I live in Montreal and Kana Music (Groove) is about a 30 minute drive from me. I just called them to talk about their lefty guitars and I told them about your channel. Hey friends, many of you have commented that this company is based in Canada, but they do not sell WITHIN Canada. First off, welcome to all my friends from the North! Secondly, my understanding is that this company acts as a distributor in Canadian territories, and because of this they do not sell directly to customers (so as to not compete with the retailers that they distribute to), so they only sell these guitars outside of Canada.

25 year player. I got one of these about a year ago and I'm impressed with it. I may do some upgrades at some point but after recording with it, you're not telling the difference between this and a $1000 axe when listening.

That bridge single coil is one of the best sounding single coils I have heard with an overdriven tone! It sounds like a humbucker, doesn't have much of that single coil sound to it. Impressed!

I thought the pickups were a bit bright and thin on the clean tones, but sounded good on the overdriven tones. Well made affordable guitars are becoming the expected standard.

For a budget guitar I suggest the 3 single coil blend knob mod. You can look it up online, basically turns you bottom tone knob into a blend knob. You can get a lot more sounds, and can really breathe some more life into your single coils other than the same old Fender standard wiring that comes stock. Also allows you to turn all 3 pickups on simultaneously, Spread the word!

You're right but I think it's quite biased when reviewers are additionally using costly amplifiers and equipment. The amplifier will make most of the tone arguable if the guitar is budget friendly. If you're going to review a price friendly guitar at least review it with a price friendly amplifier - the majority of people who want to buy these types of guitar won't have the money to buy an expensive amplifier. Use a Fender Champion 20 or something similar. I love Max and stuff but I've been playing guitar over 20 years and have the experienced to be comfortable buying more expensive gear so these videos are useful to me. But a beginner will cry when they find out their tone sounds nothing remotely the same. Herman Li, a while back, demoed a budget guitar with a budget amplifier and that was all the equipment he used. Now that's what I want to hear if I were new to guitar.

@@EricCPOP Yeah but it also shows that there are more important places to spend your money. TBH it doesn't matter if I have a guitar that costs 200 or 10000, its still gonna sound pretty terrible because I'm terrible. I think just try and get the best you can afford at the time and if you are on an extreme budget its nice to know good guitars exist at this price range.

It only proves a pro can use it also the opposite of what you want is also true…….a $5K guitar will also sound like trash in a cheap amp. What do you prove using a cheap amp, everything sucks on a cheap amp.

It's good to see someone take the time to give these unknowns a shot to prove to the beginners that there's a guitar for every price range... And worth the effort. I've played BC RICH, KRAMER, PEAVY, IBANEZ, EPIPHONE.... But the stunner was a $139 Jay Turser brand guitar. It was a jam pack... It was a BEAST! Of course... Ran through a... Digitech metal master, Digitech Digital Delay and a Ibanez Weeping Demon wah pedal...Out to a 75 watt Crate amp. All reasonable...

We sell these in our music shop here in Canada. Everything you say is true, entirely gigable and if it gets stolen oh well. You can buy ten of these for the price of an American Strat, they play very well and anyways no one in the audience knows the difference.

Totally agree I just posted a comment a few minutes ago reporting back positively after getting one in purple shortly after he originally posted this video a few months back, going in with the exact same attitude that if it sucks oh well because it was such short money but that said it's turned out to be a total blast like I'm pretty shocked by how well it plays and sounds like a Strat I've got no issues with this thing at all 🤙🏼

I got mine from UPS today. The purple/black one. Looks very cool. I have yet to plug it in, but it tuned up great. The only issue I had was the tremolo bar hung down too low so I put in a small Fender spring in the little hole for the whammy bar. Now the bar stays where I want it to. The pick guard had not one but two layers of plastic to get off which is impressive in the protection provided. Very well packed. A great $134 dollar guitar so far......

I plugged it in to my Sonicake Matribox(also bought thanks to a Guitar Max video) and it plays great. Good tuners, pickups, frets have no sharp edges, great action/intonation. For 134 bucks this is the best strat style deal your gonna find. Of course it's made in China. The co. in Canada is just an importer/dealer.

Looks like the old Lime Gold color Ford used in the 60's and 70's... I had a 1970 Mach 1 in Lime Gold, wish I would have hung on to that one!

Look at the figuring on the back of the neck though. It reminds me of my Epiphone. I stripped the finish off the neck of my Les Paul Special II and it revealed this weird figuring, like the guitar in this video, that you wouldn't normally see on a guitar, which is probably why it was used for a guitar that was going to be painted over. I hit the neck with some walnut stain and it looks sick. I think wood like that is cool, but it's probably not uniform enough for the general public to enjoy.

How big are the frets? Usually all medium but are they a big medium like medium jumbo or a small medium?

After watching your review I ordered the yellow and black strat. I placed the order late monday evening and it just showed up on Friday. Super fast delivery! Canada to Seattle in about 4 days. I'm letting it acclimate a little before really diving in but so far she looks really good, low action, no fret buzz and only slightly out of tune right out of the box. Thanks Max, another example of how quality of affordable instruments is improving. I think you might have to do something the audio interface or cab setup you are using with IR. The clean/low gain sound sounds a bit fizzy/grating and out of phase. Higher gain kind of masks everything, but I not sure you're doing the instrument justice especially on those lower settings. I had the same kid of experience on your Firefly Tele video, so I don't think it's the guitars. Just heads-up anyway.

Max. Just bought one on Christmas Eve for 50.00. Even had a fret job done on it and plastic still on pickguard. This thing is an amazing player with a small setup and fret sprout cleanup. Its banana yellow with black hardware.

I got a second hand tele type guitar for about $50 bucks if converted to dollars. That guitar not only sounds great, but also looks great. I got a tree of life decal so it looks appropriate for a power metal band. Today is a great time to play the guitar. We have free amp sims like NAM. Cheap pedals like the Matribox or Cube Baby and cheap amps or speakers to plug them into.

So the purple with the maple neck is my favorite so far. I do dig the yellow with black pick guard though. With gig bag it's like 155 bucks. Not bad. They also make a alder body guitar with hss set up for 179.00. Although the headstock seems small on those models. But I'm thinking of buying one for my son as a starter and adding like you suggested a double rail humbucker in black.

I'd love to try one of these out. I got a Mitchell MD200 at about the same price but discovered some fret buzz and thin screw mounted strap buttons that stripped out when I tried to remove a strap. I'd love to see a sub $150 solid body round-up.

I am circling back to report to you that after watching this review when it first came out a few months back I actually went ahead and ordered one of these on Ebay from Kana (in purple) and it's GREAT!! For me it has the feel of a Strat plenty enough and totally sounds like one so I'm good in fact I gotta smile every time I play it cuz I can't believe I scored this thing for like $140. I am not above running with a quality knockoff believe me so MAJOR props to Kana and thank you for bringing us these kinds of reviews bro your time is greatly appreciated 🤙🏼

I am eyeing the yellow.or the silver one. How ware the frets on yours? Any sprout or were they in need of dressing? Also, the listing says you can choose the pick guard...did you get to choose?

I saw all those options that were available but I just got this thing straight up in the box as it is and it played great right out of the box I haven't even put new strings on it or anything. I'm pretty simple when it comes to guitars like it's all feel for me I know there are dudes out there who are more connoisseur-like where they can get into all these alterations and stuff but to me if it sounds good and feels good and holds up pretty decent over time it's all good with me hopefully this one will hold up just fine but like I was replying to the original poster here if it does end up falling apart or whatever oh well it just really wasn't a lot of money. That said this guitar is a legit part of the lineup around here I give it equal time playing it as much as any of the others 👍🏼

Max, put a hotrail in the bridge and do a mod that gives you more pickup selections. My favorite sound is the bridge and the neck together on a Strat.

Most great budget guitar brands don't ship to Canada unless you pay a ridiculous shipping fee which cancels out the savings so It's nice to find a decent option in Canada.

You should do a review on that GFA TH20 tube amp that Kana Music Wholesale has listed as well. A $299 20 watt head with pull tone-shift and a high gain/low gain switch gets my interest, but no one has anything about it.
