I heard that the rumor is, the neck is raw maple off the line until MAB gives it a that famous 5 mins of shred time. It then becomes roasted. Some have actually been burned in the process. So it’s really a scientifically precise amount of playtime to perfectly heat up the wood to the exact temperature to roast it just enough. Of course that’s just a rumor from the exact specifications on the Sawtooth website so it may or may not be 100% accurate….

@@mikeg.9238 I've bought several guitars and gear from Zzounds. Last purchase I bought an Epi Les Paul Studio LS and a Gretsch Electromatic Jet . Both were BLEMISHED and $150 off for the pair. I didn't care if it was scratched or dinged, of electronics needed repair, etc. The Les Paul arrived first. Packed as originally shipped, don't think it had been opened. I found no problem with the finish or wiring. Only issue I had was that Walnut finish. It would be my last choice of finishes but $whatever (can't remember which cost what, I think $70.00) off I figured I would paint it if I hatedxit too much. Still the same color, still don't like that finish. The Gretsch arrived 3 days later. Unpacked it, it too looked like original packing. Pulled it out or box, STILL IN TUNE. only problem I found was a loose output jack.
@mikeg.92382 жыл бұрын
@@fredchatham6680 Yeah iv'e gotten a couple blemished ones also , and honestly i couldn't find any. I looked it over from every angle and there were no visible signs of anything that i could find. Like you said , they come packed very well. Double boxed and plenty of packing material. Also 9 times out of 10 they have what i'm looking for , but iv'e noticed lately more back orders. That's why if i really want something , i buy it before they run out. I bought a Epi 58' Korina Explorer a couple months back and had to wait for a few weeks. When i saw that it would be available i jumped on it , cause last time i checked it was back ordered with no date when it would be back in stock. I ran into the same issue with an Epi 339 , the color i wanted was on back order and then i got a notice it wouldn't be in stock until june , so i canceled it and bought another guitar iv'e been wanting also. I think that sort of thing is going to start happening more frequently , i read a news report the other day about the truckers association and they said if gas prices go up much more they are going to park there trucks. Because it's not worth it for them , some of them are paying $1.200 to fill there tanks. I don't blame them , it's Brandon's fault , but i digress. FJB!!!✌

Max, I really like the look and style of that Sawtooth. The only thing about it is that it reminds me quite a bit of a guitar I already have. My Ibanez RG doesn't have a roasted maple neck or fretboard, but it dates back to 2001, which makes it of vintage age. That means its woods have had adequate time to dry. One roasts woods to make them dry like aged woods, so I already have some of the Sawtooth's virtues right now. Of course, the body of my old guitar is "relic'd" in the old-fashioned manner, meaning it just got old! This is the only kind of relicking I like. So the Sawtooth is interesting and good to look at, but I will hold out until I can get one of their ES Hybrids. Great review, BTW!
