Thank you for this video Desi. I'm trying to wrap my head around the theory here. What's the relation of G7 and Bm? I know Gm would be the relative minor to B major. But not visa versa. Is there a theoretical rule that I can better understand the relation between the two to transpose to other keys? Thanks!

The relationship is between G MAJOR 7 and Bm. B minor is made from the notes B D F# (1 b3 5). G major 7 is G B D F# (1 3 5 7). So, G major 7 contains a B minor triad.

I understand what you're getting at but, it's just another lot of lazy voicings..I'd prefer the full voicings - as I play entirely on my own.

Musicians often use smaller voicings not because they are lazy but because the sound is preferred in a lot of situations. This is a very important part of understanding music composition and popular styles of guitar playing in particular. Think about how songs such as "Jack and Diane" or "stairway to heaven" would sound if the chord voicings were changed. They would not sound the same. Neither would Tin Man. So, you might want to rethink that.

Indeed, you're right. I use them myself at times. However, in your lesson, you're assuming that there's another instrument playing the bass notes and remember, America had three guitarists playing alternate voicings, which is different from playing as an individual, hence my comment.
