Myles is just a different high of awesome, Myles hits high notes and outsings axl in many ways. Axl is crazier - sorry was thinking Axl, Izzy Stradlin rhythm guitar , not Axl. But anyways, Slash still going strong with Frank Sidoris and Myles.🙂

Paradise City is one of my all time favorites! This is what turned me on to Guns n roses in the first place. I remember hearing it on the radio for the first time. I had no idea it was Guns n Roses. I discovered that only many many months after that. That song hit me like lightning! After listening to it I thought "this is the best rock song I've ever heard!" Absolutely amazing.

I remember listening to a friend’s Appetite For Destruction album on my Walkman in the early hours on school camp way back in ‘89, and thinking that it was pretty cool…then this song came on, and I was like “Whoah!”, then the faster ending came on, and I was hooked. 😻 It took me a while to actually get one, but I HAD to get a guitar after hearing this - it really was the golden moment that sent me down a guitar playing path that continues to this day. I love it! 🙂

Goes for so many singers ... Brian Johnson comes to mind (Heard someone say when playing AC/DC his son asked him if that was Donald Duck singing, now I can't unhear it..haha) But also Matthew Bellamy (MUSE) or even Mark Knopfler .. But with all its the total package that draws one in....

Nice video. I agree Slash mainly does think minor pentatonic (or the rock scale as he calls it 😎) but he very often uses the flat five and the major 6 as well. So the Slash scale is a kind of dorian / blues mashup. There are some solos where he outlines the chord changes heavily, like November rain, and his playing is always beautifully melodic and committed.
@alex_lgrd2 жыл бұрын
He uses the harmonic scale as well

There's an interview out there on KZbin somewhere where Slash talks about this song. He says that intro was actually a bluegrass lick that they incorporated. He then proceeds to play it in the bluegrass style and it sounds great. This is an example of why Guns were so good. They really were a lot more sophisticated than all the rest of those 80's hair metal power chord bands. Although you may not think that when looking at young them hahaha.

A minor pentatonic guy. It's exatly what I am. Me and thousends and thousends outhers. In fact, it is pretty dificulty attack the guitar with out thincking like a rock player. It is a great mistery for me how to play out of this. How can I take a simple backing track and play like a jazz player for example.

One suggestion I'd make here is listening to slower sax solos and trying to transcribe some lines from them. There are no "scale boxes" on the sax, so the lines will force your guitar playing out of patterns and into following your ears. It's not an easy thing and it's a life's work really, but the more you do it, the more the familiar guitar patterns become an aid and not a prison
@fernandoguizzardivaz46132 жыл бұрын
