Greg is my favorite guitarist ever. I am 65 and a retired working musician. No crap just straight talent and feeling.

I am possibly the only guy who had Helliver Guitars in Germany made me a Greg Hilden signature guitar, with his signature on the fret board....

I thought all Greg's tone must have been in his 1960 something Brownface amp. But he doesn't have it here today ( i don't think), and his tone is exactly right on! The same tone as when he plays Greg's Guitars - a different vintage guitar everyday, and yet same, cutting tone.. It makes no sense! They say tone is in the fingers, but c'mon! This guy's got a '63 Brownface and a '58 ES-335 in his fingers..!

It's so peculiar hearing a guitarist I have followed on Utube for years, speak in a foreign language! Of course, I always knew Greg was German. It's no big shock/horror to discover he speaks German! It's just a little strange, that's all. You see him play a different vintage guitar every day - a Gibson, a Fender, a Gretsch or a Guild - but always the same Twin Reverb clean, gorgeous tone Greg is known for. And what gorgeous, effortless bluesy swagger! But he never speaks. Furthermore, his Utube videos are titled in English (in my country, at least.). Subconsciously, I start to view Greg as a friend, or local musician I know and converse with both on guitar aswell as in verbal dialogue. It's one of the subconscious side effects of Utube, I guess. So when he does speak, suddenly...it's quite alarming, and a little bit off-putting! I suppose it is exacerbated the fact that the German dialect has an aggressive cadence, rhythm and timbre to it. Had he spoke French - the sensual, "sexy" language (😅) - it very well may have had the opposite effect, and put me at ease! Who's to know?! 🤦♂️ I'm pontificating now - forgive me! ..And to someone who may very well not be able to understand a word I'm saying! (Although, I don't believe that to be true. Greg has responded to a comment from me before. I guess he is either bi-lingual...or multi-lingual.). Thanks for the stellar playing as always, Gregor!

legend has it that this was a body double cause greg can't talk, he can only communicate in blues licks

I don't mind rich guys owning nice guitars when they can play. ;) I get kind of mad seeing all those nice American made vintage instruments overseas though. So long as real players get them and not just cork sniffing rich guys I guess I'm ok with it. HA!

Hilden is famous for making the best music for elevators and shopping malls: He bores old folks to death until they mindlessly buy everything without a second thought.
