I know someone worked in the Gibson factory for years. He’s the kind of guy who likes to take cheap guitars and get as much out of them as he can, so he’s a big fan of Squier and Epiphone. Whenever his time at Gibson comes up, he goes on about how they wanted everything set up to “vintage spec” which really comes down to mile-high action, and how Japan (Yes, not just a Japanese based company, but the nation of Japan) would send the guitars back with the headstocks sawn off as a fuck-you way of saying “Do it again but do it right this time.” I think it speaks volumes that someone who worked assembly at Gibson would still rather play a used, souped up Squier.

This has been my philosophy for the past 20 years. Having worked in multiple music stores, from mom and pop to the big box stores… From St. Louis, Missouri, I am building my 10th squire parts caster Guitar. This one is a P bass. I have spent maybe 2 to 3k( over 20 years, some real pieces of shit peppered in their also) and have a collection of the best playing easy to maintain and sound amazing guitars I have ever played/owned in my life. This includes all the hi-end money grab collectors pieces the big guys put out, I was able to play while working at said stores (not own, could never afford.) Now in my life, I can afford the “high end stuff” and I get more excited about new epi/squire stuff, to mod, than anything the big guys put out. I swap necks, pickups, new bridges/tuners. I have learned more from my own experimentation than any dumb guitar rag could ever sell me on. Glen thank you for what you do smash the mythical bull shit and just play around learn to mod, and keep more money in your pocket. There has never been a better time in history to learn how to build, fix, repair even make your own instruments. Death to cork sniffer tone snobs!!!

UNREAL - I just noticed this video in my "daily feed", and when I saw the duration was 9 HOURS (and 7 minutes), you really piqued my interest, and the video stood out like "sore thumb" along with the thumbnail. I have been a bit busy and away from "the music scene" and I have not watched any musician-related videos for quite a while. I look forward very much to investigating this video soon, as it's been over a year since I commented on one of your videos, and you were kind enough at that moment to acknowledge and address the comment within the live stream that you were hosting, within a few seconds. I consider you a genius studio owner/operator, product reviewer, and content creator, with an unmatched level of knowledge and insight at all levels of spectrum as to what products are on the market, what they cost, how well they perform, and you truly have a unique presentation style to boot. I do not know if this video is actually 9 hours in duration, or if it was a "marketing move", but you earned a "thumbs up" already, just for the thumbnail image, video title, and duration. Thanks, and have a great weekend. _John_ (-,-)

It would be awesome if you did something like Linus tech tips’ secret shopper series. I know you have done secret shopper stuff before, but Linus does 6 of the biggest brands every year and simulates a broken piece to go through customer service with each brand. I think if this channel turned that concept into getting 6 entry level guitars from big brands it would be awesome

Hey glen, killer video. Like many others we just played this video while working or working out and it was was great. One big qestion that would love to ask you and the community is before we spend any money on speakers, mics, pickups, and endless crap. You should spend a good day learning to work with your EQ on your amp. I have a Mark V and i was about to blow over $1000 on modifacations and additions to my rig (im waiting for you to call me an idiot) when i just started to move the knobs up and down taking away and adding sound. Shouldnt this be the case what you should do first? I hope this question gets answered on your channel and my best wishes and support!

Hey big fan and love it when you stick it to the whiners who complain about everything. Idea for comparison video: take your soldano amp and play through your Harley Benton cab with 212 vintage celestions. Then compare it to your peavy 6505 played through your best and most expensive cab, use same guitar and no computer mixing to help. Who wins. Rock on brother. If they is a different try to even it out with boss EQ pedal 7 band.
