Neural dsp made their version of Tonex capture pedal, and called it nano cortex 😊

I optimistically thought this might be about old Traynor amps (although finding a YBA-1 for $256 would be highly unlikely these days). The Bugera sounds killah, but I just can't get comfortable about putting money into Xi Jinping's expansionist project. Although again, if it's a used Bugera then it was the original buyer, not me, who decided to help Xi take over Taiwan and ultimately rule the planet. So okay. I guess?

Fun fact that maybe of use to some... schecter guitars are roughly half price in Thailand compared to UK prices. Obviously you aren't going to jump on a plane just to buy a guitar but if you are going there anyway, you can have a fun day exploring the many Bangkok axe stores.

Expect price increases on the Valveking now😀 Great video and comparison

I had seen a valve king head a couple years back for $100 Canadian. I would have snagged it up in an instant but it was over a 7 hour drive away. I still lament not making time to make the trip to get it, but with prices of fuel it still would have been fairly pricey

Glenn!! I don't remember if I asked this before, but do you think it would be worth doing a video on making captures for the Tonex One (which you may have done before when the software or the big pedal came out, now that I think about it) and also how to use the Seymour Duncan Powerstage with a reamp box to make custom IRs to load into the Tonex One? Maybe go over the Two Notes Torpedo vs. using the line out or effects send from an amp to make the capture, compare Amp capture with an IR vs. an Amp + Cab capture to show how they compare, etc. It would be helpful to me to see how it's done correctly in one video, but not sure how many others feel like I do.

Great video and the proof is in the pudding. I'm an electrical engineer and I am willing to bet the Tonex amp model waviness in the frequency response is probably due to a lower order of frequency components in the model than the higher end quad cortex. Fourier transform theory is part of the explanation (all complex waveforms can be represented by a weighted sum of sinusoidal waveforms...blah, blah) and the tonex proves that once you get "enough" the audible difference is negligible even though you can see the quad cortex creates a more uniform response across the entire spectrum. But again, your good testing procedure and most importantly "ears" show the inexpensive modeler + rp effects are pretty darn close.

This is a stock 2004 Squier Standard Stratocaster with no mods. It is played through a Fender Frontman 25R amplifier with a 100 watt celestion bass speaker replacement with no effects. If you know what you're doing you don't need to spend a lot of money on equipment. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIucpGWfoKtgh7Msi=2H4z9XokXgCwco1M

Well you said budget 😊 I'm just returning to guitar at 58 I'm using a tank g for £65 a lost tempo looper and drummer for £60 and a Bluetooth speaker a mate gave me... Its an old ec 50 ltd guitar so total layout is less than £300 and as most of the stuff has built in rechargeable batteries I can take it busking. Hey the tone isn't great but for the money I'm satisfied...good vids, you entertain me and sometimes I learn something 😂😂

Hey Glenn, love your channel! I am considering buying the United Studio Replay Box, but no one has done a review on KZbin as far as I can search. I am also new to re-amping in general, so I was wondering if you could do a review/how-to guide on this amazing piece of technology for us? Cheers!

I went to see Slipknot a couple nights ago and a very grating band called Knocked Loose played before them. The singer just shouted at the same high pitch for 90 minutes. No dynamics, nothing other than a singular technique executed poorly. It was pretty bad.

Hi Gleen! On the topic of pickups swapping, I recently discovered a trick I wanted to share: use a multiband compressor just after the guitar. I picked up the 3-band compressor that comes in the Helix, I just wanted to quickly bring up some brightness and attack while tightening the lows and overall boosting the signal a bit. Actually I got pretty impressed with the results! Greetings from Spain

Amazing. I'm not a gear snob. I see NO need to overspend in the hopes of my playing somehow attaining some magical quality to it. It all comes down to actually being able to freaking PLAY the instrument, right? I've always felt that way about guitars. I think the whole "vintage" market is mostly a bunch of bull. You know, wherein a vintage Les Paul is somehow, by virtue of it being old, better sounding and better playing than ANYTHING out there today. What a crock. It's the same thing with effects pedals. "The germainium capcitor that they used reacts so much better than the ones that are used now..." Please. Now you've proven it with amps as well. I say bravo! I'd say a whole lot of people have been willingly sold a bill of goods. In spite of evidence to the contrary, sadly, no minds will have been changed.

I'm really tempted to try out a ToneX One. I have so many incredible ToneX captures now from Amalgam and Nevo Studios, as well as captures I've done of my own drive pedals.

While Metal isn't really my forte' anymore, I thought I'd add my own opinion here. First, SS can easily compete with tubes on the clean end. In certain ways, it's easier to get and manage clean tone with SS. A Roland jazz chorus amp, for example. I also feel that a SS amp will work just as well as tubes with loads of distortion and gain. The signal is so in your face that I don't think it matters a bit. However... In the middle realm, that area where there's a way to ride from clean to semi-dirty to not quite over the top, tubes rule. But really, that's mostly for the player. An audience isn't going to hear the difference, lol.

Both sounded too close! The transients on the tonex were a bit more notorious than in the quad cortex (maybe input gain was different in both?). Even so, I would't buy the cortex unless I really need multiple fx chains in stage
