Great Reaction Brian. These ladies are one of the Very Top Metal Bands in the world today. Musicianship, showmanship, and composition are all Awesome. Band: *Asami* (vocals), started as a R&B singer and never 'belted' until she auditioned for Lovebites, *Midori* (blond guitar), *Miyako* (guitar, classical piano, keyboards, keytar, composer, sound engineer), *Fami* (bass - new since Oct '22), *Haruna* (4'8" Powerhouse on drums, co-founder), *Miho* (original bass, co-founder, extreme Metalhead). There is Nothing 'pop' about these young women - they are Metal through-and-through - on a Mission to Revive and Update the original Metal sound of the 80's-90s'. They're doing a damn good job on that Mission. You're in for a hell of a ride. 🤘🐺🤘

The singer Asami started with R&B and soul before joining LOVEBITES. The drummer Haruna is a beast and the bassist Fami shows incredible stuff on her own YT channel. Name of the blonde guitarist is Midori, her nickname is the crazy shredder 🎸 Their original bassist Miho and founder sadly left the band 2 years ago.

Thanks so much for reacting to amazing Lovebites and spreading the word. These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. If you are into guitar solos then Lovebites is the way to go. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. Miyako is also a concert level classical pianist. Their live performances are outstanding. Their catalog is about 60 songs and they are from great to masterpieces. Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Angra, Helloween, Yngwie Malmsteen, Pantera, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. Some people say that they’re redefining metal or that they are breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Miho (bassist and founder of the band) left in August 2021 and the new bass player, Fami, was hired in October 2022. My next recommendation is “The Hammer of wrath” from their new DVD/Blue-Ray that will be released next August 23. You can find this video on their KZbin official channel.

Hi Brian, great reaction to a great band! You can really look forward to your upcoming LOVEBITES reactions. This is more like a fun song for this outstanding musicians, of course still great. But they kind of hide away their real talent 😉 Not bad guitar playing for a piano player, or what do you think? Miyako‘s first instrument is the piano, she is the one with the dark hair. She recently released a solo CD with her own piano interpretations of famous metal songs. Both guitarists never touched a guitar before they were 18 respectively 20 years old. Wait until you’ve seen them playing harmonized solos … Wolfpack 🐺, LOVEBITES fanbase will come soon 🤘🏼

Thank you Bernard for recommending this, and thank you GSR for reacting to it. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TYeJ2mYrVqeqs The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: “Set the World on Fire” kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2rdpHtsnqySbMU from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. “Don’t Bite the Dust” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXnRfHp7n5Z2g8U, from the same concert; "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ2TXohjrtB9ebc They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oonLkKiDgp5noLc; Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5aboYSMqpKFhJo; And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJikqaN7paqWpNE Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPLpaSdnr14d5Y. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4HGYYuBZdGBo7c includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6rRn4t6m6qhpLs (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKPQoJ-kaqyrq9U This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn2plp9_bpiJoa8 "Glory to the World" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6itpXdojaqLfpY "Winds of Transylvania" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSoZYiYlLWdnpo. Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself! You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

Welcome to the Wolfpack! (the name for the Lovebites fans :D) - Glad to see you fully enjoying the best metal band on the planet. It's great to see more people discovering our ladies! I encourage you to check out some of their live performances too - in my decades of metal fandom, I've never heard cleaner sound out of a band live. Also, they while they usually wear the white gowns that are their usual "Battle Uniforms", one of their newest songs "Stand and Deliver" is one of the few MVs they have done in casual clothes. Some data on the band: The lead singer (Asami) is the group goofball, and is known as "The One and Only Voice" - and metal is a new genre for her vocally. She does a lot of writing, also. Haruna is the drummer - called "The Little BIG Engine" - because she just crushes the drum parts and rhythm section on every song, and she is completely indefatiguable! Miyako is our dark haired guitarist who also does all the background synth and piano work. In addition, she also writes and does everything with that calm, cool professionalism. :) She is called "The Golden Touch" for a reason - everything she touches turns gold. Midori is the blonde guitarist with the amazing hair, and she is called "The Crazy Shredder" - because, well, it is what it says. She's insanely good and aggressive shredder. She also performs in bodybuilding competitions. :) On bass you have the amazingly talented Fami - who doesn't have a nickname yet - but she really has injected even more energy and passion into the group. Sheis the youngest of the group, and has amassed an amazing KZbin following as a solo artist before auditioning for Lovebites and being accepted wholeheartedly by the band and the fans. Recommended further listening: (All Live Videos) Their latest video, a live version of The Hammer of Wrath - the first live release from the current lineup. Swan Song (with Chopin Intro) - shows a lot of range - including classical influences, which includes Miyako playing a Chopin piece on piano. Spellbound - for that 80's euro-metal vibe. Frozen Serenade - more amazing range, and a killer live video We the United (off of Five of a Kind) - for just a great all around show-ender. Also you can find over 15,000 other Lovebites fans on our Facebook group. :) facebook.com/groups/278200502817260

Aussie division of the Wolfpack reporting in! Thanks for checking out Lovebites Brian, it's always interesting to see a new reactor getting "bitten". I trust some of the more fanatical members of our brethren haven't given you too much grief over use of the "p" word! In a world more familiar with JPop & KPop its not unreasonable to have some inititial doubts, however these ladies will soon dispel them. Not that they don't mix up genres, you'll find several types of metal, a slow ballad that doesn't remain slow (Edge of the World), even a blues rock number (Dancing with the Devil). And how many metal bands do you know that will give you a Chopin piano Etude in mid concert? Lovebites does! (Swan Song). I gather that your first two reactions are MVs, this one and Glory to the World. These are both slightly atypical to their usual fare, you need to also see some live performances where the M&M guitar duo work their magic. Enjoy the ride, cheers.

@@GuitarSoloReactions I guess by pop you mean the voice, instead of the riff, carrying the melody. I give you that for Glory to the World chorus (I don't dig it so much etiher), but with Lovebites, although the vocal part is usually melodic, there is always a riff underneath. I would say the instrumental tracks are not subdued, but on par with the vocal track, as a rule. @@stand.and.deliver.5 It seems to me it got lost mainly in North America, where power metal doesn't seem to be much of a thing. They tend to associate metal with "brutal". I guess we have Slipknot, Pantera etc. to thank for that. What strikes me as odd is that our gracious host is at least as old as I am (56) and must have lived through the 80s. Guess he never liked Iron Maiden or Judas Priest? But de gustibus non est disputandum, so whatever.
@hoges412 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, I llke Lovebites because they play melodic metal. Still heavy, but not dissonant (other than Dissonance, lol!) I must admit I was never a great fan of screaming or growling vocals, although Floor gave growling new respectability in a couple of numbers, because she can. And I have come to accept Mark's growls in Epica for the light/ dark contrast with Simone's voice. However bands that rely on brutal vocals and sheer volume to disguise lack of musical ability don't do a thing for me, and they can all claim to be "metal".

Their song When Destinies Align has for me one of the most tastiest guitarsolos in metal history. Choose the MV not that the live version is bad, it is amazing but the MV get more punch to the song!

For guitar solos or dual leads, you may try one of the following: Signs of Deliverance, Set the World on Fire, When Destinies Align, Shadowmaker. Midori & Miyako always impress by their creativity and technique. And there is a lot more to Lovebites than guitar excellence!

Greets Brian, I enjoy your reactions very much and always get a listening tip about stuff I didn't know. Out of curiosity, is that cream colored guitar behind you a Fender Jaguar? I love your reactions to Lovebites and Nemophila, my two favorite Japanese bands. Lovebites in particular as I was in high school when the British Invasion started so I had great '70s & part of 80s, these women bring back those influences in many of their songs, brings back the smell of Acapulco Gold and cheap wine. They are leading the charge of what history will most likely call the "Japan Invasion" and metal will continue stronger than recently Thanks much, look forward each week for a beer with ya

Thank you for joining me every week, the guitar in the background is the Squier Jazzmaster, J.Mascis model.

Thanks for a very good reaction. Yes they are metal, even when they are not metal. The other members of the Wolfpack will clue you in on various songs as possible reactions and will also give a avalanche of useful info. Me? They do not have a bad song in their entire catalog so I am easy to please :) Wolfpack Ohio USA 👹🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺💯💓 forever.

Get ready for a fun ride… it gets heavier. They understand melody, but keep the metal real. Asami on vocals is amazing. All of them are top tier, but watch out for Miyako 😀 She’s classically trained on piano too… but for heavy I hope you have their latest live video lined up: “The Hammer Of Wrath” 🔨

They're heavily influenced by 80s hair metal and NWOBHM. Maybe that's why you think their sound kind of has a "poppy" feel to it. You should listen to some of their thrashier songs.

Japan is a hot bed of really talented musicians right now. I'd strongly recommend the band Asterism. These kids are something special. Check out the live version of the song "Dawn" it was recorded when they were about 16 years old.
