All Blues by Miles Davis is an iconic jazz standard in 6/8 meter. It features a unique rhythm riff motif and some really interesting jazz chords at the end.
I'll show you the All Blues guitar chords, which actually already make the melody as well. That's why it's also the All Blues chord melody.
You'll see everything note for note, slow and easy. There's also a slow tempo playthrough of the entire All Blues guitar comping towards the end of the lesson.
All Blues is a 12 bar Blues in 6/8 time signature. You can practice to that maybe new to you feeling with the All Blues guitar backing tracks I've made for you. One is at regular tempo, the other All Blues play along is at slower tempo, so it's easier to start with.
Ther are some really fascinating All Blues guitar chords at the end of the song form. We have altered chords and a quartal voicing that Miles also used (by his piano and guitar players) in other tunes.
You'll also learn a little bit of theroy along the way, so you know what you're doing.
Of course I've also made the All Blues guitar tab and guitar pro tabs, so you can follow along, while watching the All Blues chords comping lesson.
I hope you enjoy the All Blues guitar lesson as much as I did creating it and give me a fat thumbs up. Don't forget to share the love and the knowledge and subscribe to my channel for many mor great chord melody guitar lessons like this one.

Thank you for the lesson, Sandra! I always think I need to be playing with more than just two fingers so it was good to get reminded about diads and how you don't need to use every single finger when playing a chord. things can sound beautiful and be simple at the same time it doesn't need to be complicated.
@GuitarversumSandraSherman

This is also, because you are not the only player in the arrangement (as said) and there is no need for doubling notes (if not wanted for a special reason). Makes things sound more tranparent. I remember when I first heard, that at least one of the Rolling Stones guitarists plays with only four strings on his instrument, because the arrangements never need those other two ones, I was quite astonished. Also the root is mostly played by the bass player.

@@GuitarversumSandraSherman LOL, now I'm embarrassed... Nothing to write home about. The jam host was a vibe player and music teacher, he took an interest in the way I was trying to work out improvised harmonies to stay out of the way of all the melody players. He turned me on to building double and triple stops playing with major and minor intervals upscale from the root. Tons of diatonic possibilities for "the new guy" w/o getting in trouble and my first pair of jazzy big boy pants... B-)

Thank you, Miss Sherman. I have gotten a good deal from your videos. However, I need to make one point about the chord progression. Instead of C7 in the 5th and 6th measure, the proper chord is Gm.
@GuitarversumSandraSherman
@GuitarversumSandraSherman 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, or C9/G, which is Gm6 😊
@angelobranford1029
@angelobranford1029 3 жыл бұрын
True. I prefer to hear it as Gm simply because it's supposed to be a modal tune. Notice how Paul Chambers doesn't change the bass line until the 9th measure.
@johnlyon326
@johnlyon326 Жыл бұрын
Are bars 5 and 6 really on C7? I know they are always written that way but, bearing in mind that this was intended as a modal blues, and because Paul Chambers continues to play the bass figure in G on these bars rather than move to C, I think G Dorian is more appropriate. I also think your dyad sounds more G Dorian that it does C7.
@GuitarversumSandraSherman
@GuitarversumSandraSherman Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's G-6 actually, but data really just like a C9 with a G (the 5th) in bass. I wrote is as C9/G, because it explains the 4th degree of the blues a little better.
