Having played these for many years, I have found those frets rather vestigial and most of those notes generally have better alternatives in other position regions. On the other hand, it gives a fretless option to notes that wont otherwise slide well as they do on the higher strings. "Vanishing fret" pattern was developed in the pre stealth period when bending mushroom shaped fret wire around tight bends held up many builds. The fingerboards are coming out the best they ever have!

Which other instrument? Anything is possible but does require engineering time and expense.
