@Carl Panzram its different for someone who started with a nylon guitar 😌, I could play for hours with nylon strings. And after 8 months I upgraded to a steel, already build the exact right amount of callus, to be able to play for hours on steel as well. That’s how a manage to play without hurting fingers. Well ofcourse I felt soreness, but not like pain pain. Lately my sister tried to learn guitar with me and started crying after we tried to learn the EM chord for 3 minutes only, because she was using my steel guitar, so her fingers were hurting. Nylon is key for learning a lot in ur first months.

To anyone who may be wondering how long from when they first pickup a guitar to when they would be able to play Wonderwall. First, learn the basics. Despite what most say, it is not a beginner song in the sense that you can pick up a guitar and learn it. Is it possible? Sure, anything is with enough practice, but you won't come out of this song having actually learned anything and will more than likely have picked up bad habits. I used Justin Guitar's course (it's free) and after 6 months I mastered all of the necessary chords to play this (and other songs). Justin basically said, so anyway, now you can learn Wonderwall lol. After mastering the basics it took me about a week to learn it. I started at .25 speed, and then ramped up from there as I started to master the song. Keep in mind it'll probably take most less time, but I didn't have a lot of time to take the course from Justin. I spent about 2 hours a week on his course and this included practicing, and I had a couple weeks off here and there too. This is a great song to learn, I know it's become a meme, but it actually does take skill to play. Learning this gets you pretty close to intermediate level, which I am now at. I spent 4 months just on mastering the F chord. With lots of yelling and saying I'll never touch the guitar again. They don't call it the F*** chord for no reason. I actually mastered most of the chords I learned within a week with 50 - 60 chord changes per minute if that gives you an idea of it's difficulty and to be fair I could play it on electric within the first week, but I wanted to learn it on acoustic for another song I wanted to play. My point is, enjoy this song while you can, because it only gets harder from here haha. I actually find myself coming back to this song as a refresher of my skills, plus I just really like the song lmao. It either gets hate because everyone that picks up a guitar usually wants to learn this song, or they're just hating on beginners because they apparently never were one... Play what you like, who cares what everyone else thinks.

That strumming looks difficult, but to wrap my head around the intro strumming - I am constantly doing up and down motion on the beats. Just choosing to ring or skip during the motion. Dave does a great job as usual :D
@RastjackA3 жыл бұрын
@@spacetime_wanderer doing the same thing really lol even if you do an accidental up or down it kinda still sounds the same. Singing the highs and lows in your head kinda helps the strum pattern
@spacetime_wanderer3 жыл бұрын
@@RastjackA i agree it sounds similar with a note here and there but i am benefiting a lot by playing it slowly but correctly. and i occasionally play it fast (and sadly wrong) but got the key part. The down before the highlighted chord change part (d-d-D--udud-D--udud-D-du-udududu) give that distinctive loud down stroke. so not missing atleast those 3 downs is key to sounding close. I am a noob so please correct me if I am wrong. But in any case my goal is to play correct and in beats always even if it's slow. i think playing fast is natural outcome of getting it right consistently.
@melodyvalentine87792 жыл бұрын
I think this song is pretty easy to strum because you can kinda feel your way through it. It's intuitive to me. You can hear how it's supposed to be played. You don't have to get it absolutely exactly like the recording but as long as you get the three down strums at the start and then dudududu chuggy part before going back to the em7 it'll sound like Wonderwall, especially if you're singing it.
