Gujagoshtinchya Gujagoshtee

The film “Gujagoshtinchya Gujgoshtee” delves into the idea of performance as an opportunity of cultural intervention. It is a documentation of the pleasures and challenges of staging 200 shows of the play - “Yonichya Manichya Gujgoshtee” ! The play is a culturally relevant adaptation of internationally acclaimed play The Vagina Monologues into Marathi. It focusses upon the need for breaking the silence around women’s sexuality. In the present cultural scenario in Maharastra, it was a challenge to stage the play related to the proscribed subject. While delineating the steep learning curve of the director and the actors the film also records the reverberations in the thoughts of viewers. Thus, the film “Gujagoshtinchya Gujgoshtee” is about the intimate experiences of performing and of watching the performance !

Dear all, In my opinion this is the bold and best drama of Marathi theatre. There is nothing wrong in it and presented nicely. Hats off to the eriter and all the artists who performed it giving respect to the private part of a lady.Marathi people should see this drama likevan open heart surgery. Keep it up. k.s.ramchandra.

Watched your adaptation/transcreation yesterday. It was awesome. Thank you. I gave my views after the show. Would love to see how it has come. If you can share that recording, I would love to see it. मी हे नाटक पाहिले नाही परंतु मी या नाटकाबद्दल इतकंच म्हणेन की या नाटकाकडे चांगल्या दृष्टीकोनातून पहा तरच हे तुम्हाला चांगलं वाटेल अन्यथा काहीही उपयोग नाही. त्यानंतर मी वंदना ताई आणि तिच्याबरोबर काम करणारे कलाकार मंडळी यांचे विशेष आभार मानतो कारण त्यांनी अशा स्वरूपाचा चांगल्या विषयाच्या नाटकामध्ये काम करण्याची इच्छा दर्शवली
