Ingredients and method :
1 cup toor dal - washed
1 tomato deskinned and chopped
1 Tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
1/4 Tsp hing / asafoetida
2 1/2 cups water
Pressure cooked for 4 whistles
2 on high flame and 2 on low
Churn the pressure cooked Dal with a hand blender
Tadka - 2 Tbsp ghee
1 piece cinnamon
2 cloves
1 dry red chilli
1 Tsp mustard seeds
1 Tsp cumin seeds
Few curry leaves
1/4 Tsp hing / asafoetida
2 Tbsp cashew nuts
1 1/2 Tsp coriander cumin seed powder
1/4 Tsp turmeric powder
2 Tbsp jaggery
4 kokums - for the tangy
Salt to taste
1 1/3 cups water
Boil for 5 minutes
Coriander leaves
Lemon juice
