@@hasmukhbhai3502 Cricketers are not that global as chess players nor are the Bollywood "celebs". They won't be much hounded by people from Cayman Islands to Sweden (I'm not talking Indian origin immigrants in those countries but natives). Cricketers would be in only some areas but definitely not by Hungarians in Budapest. That's the power of being good in something truly global. This is why Vishy Anand is greater than Sachin even though I respect them both and this is why Dhyan Chand is arguably the GOAT Indian athlete since field hockey was quite global at least in his time. Although, I do understand that these are only a tiny minority in their countries and this would only be around chess events as chess is not like football which is global as well as massively popular at the same time. Edit - I just checked your comment was to bushanmehra , not the OP. Yes, your reply is apt to the guy who implied as if cricketers and even good bolly "celebs" are not real heroes, and only these chess players are. The above reply shouldn't be to you. I'm still not deleting it since the point I was trying to make is decent enough to read. And, I agree with your sentiment and I'd argue anyone who is giving best (in anything in correct way) for Indian society are heroes and heroines.
@_sayan_roy_Ай бұрын
Yeah but in Hungary, cricketers and Bollywood "celebrities" anyways won't get this limelight from fans from across the world. Check my above comment. I agree with your sentiment though.

When whole world of Chess was looking and preparing against Pragg n Nihal, on an honest note Gukesh and Arjun came as out of syllabus for them. Specially Gukesh as he was shakky at top level so people misunderstood his rest of the journey. Carlsen is GOAT n Vishy too but the Impact created by Vishy in India compare to what Carlsen's impact done for Norway is a massive difference. Vishy is not only ageless or GOAT only but he is also one of the major reason why India is now dominating the world.
@morijin5568Ай бұрын
tbh vishy being a monster at chess isnt what revolutionarised chess in india, its vishy's active participation in growing the sport by working extremely hard. its on carlsen to actually work towards it aswell. Him being the goat wont be enough.

Haha, I know exactly those kinds of people who try to discuss with you on things they and you both are good at and when they want to learn everything out especially when you have "bested" them in that area in some sense. You'd try to be as polite as possible and maybe you're also getting some enthusiasm from it but at some point it might drag on longer than you think and they wouldn't be attentive or self aware enough to understand that. But, it is what is. It is not always the case and it anyways doesn't drag forever anyways. And in any case, there's nothing particularly horrible about those kinds of people or situations. I just couldn't resist typing it out. lol Of course, there is a chance albeit not a big chance, that it does not apply to this Param and Gukesh situation or even any situation involving top chess players.
