@ I agree… especially the IT sector in India is booming and infrastructure is improving… but the same can’t be said for some important stuff… like we still have to import silicon chips from outside and have to pay heavy import duties for cutting edge electronics and equipment, nothing substantial or systematic is done for proper sanitation and waste management like seperate bins etc, India and its research centres don’t fund scientifically innovative first world projects such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing etc. Basically India improves, but it improves at things that had already been achieved by the western world… maybe the most innovation it has shown in the past decades is in the realm of digital payments and home deliveries.

First of all this rule is there before the BJP govt too. 2nd thing why he shouldn't pay, if an individual is paying tax on salary then he should also pay on the prize money , it is equivalent to salary for a sportsperson. In our school they had done so much improvement like giving laptops to school instead of computers and fitting projectors ,and many other.But heres the problem Laptop I like computers need battery which will die out in 3-4 yrs.And the chargers usually hang on for another 3-4 yrs.Well by the time the laptops will have lost their keyboard and trackpads,especially when used by 4 different kids in a same day,for more than a year. I dont complain that they are only allowing a fixed small amount. But thats It. And you say education is free,but what about bus fare ? The govt concession here in Kerala is shiit. The. Only one who endures loss are the private bus conductor who need to give concession without getting repaid. Govt Transport Buses on the other had makes it harder to get concession reduces their Buses and sometimes the wont run at all in a specific route. Govt,They never sponser much training for extracurricular activities Aside from setting up sports competition they never have spent any money on infrastructure needed for such sports. Its mostly managed by private parties. And the ones they make are again Never maintained. What they do are all.for showoff. Most Govt projects except the national ones are never engineered properly.Like 95% of roads in India lack a drainage system . And I tell you ,A road without A Drainage system will wither away In the moonsoon season. It wont even last a year.And this is something I have seen personally, For the past three years The only time the roads were maintained was 2-4 months before The election. They wont even try to hide it anymore.

First of all prize money is not gift. Gift could be regarded if things someone gives you for no hardwork like birthday gifts or aniiversary gift or winning lottery. These are unearned, voluntary transfers without effort or consideration. Gift can't be taxed. (Same with when relative come to home and gives you money as gift, it can't be taxed) Prize is won but by hard work there is his skill involved which earned him that so it is income. (This can be taxed)
