GULF STREAM crossing to the BAHAMAS: the adventure that started it all

Join us on our journey to the Bimini Islands in the Bahamas as we set forth on an adventure that led us down a path that would eventually allow us to follow our dreams.
In May of 2022 we trailer our Parker 2520 XLD across the state of Florida from Fort Myers to Fort Lauderdale after months of refit projects and planning.
We dive on a famous shipwreck, discover the remnants of a wooden hulled ship exposed on a remote beach, meet dozens of local stingrays, and search for sea glass along with other salty treasures from the deep along beautiful Bahamian shoreline.

After picking up the pieces of our lives and losing most of our worldly possessions to Hurricane Ian we sold our damaged home and purchased a 2005 Fountaine Pajot Bahia 46 to chase new horizons and enter into our next chapter of ocean exploration.
We spent the past eight years operating ecological charters in Southwest Florida and have always dreamed of sharing our passion for the sea and her inhabitants with a larger audience as we explore new destinations. That North East side of Bimini might be my favorite place in Bimini. As you saw, at low tide, the sand flats come out of the water as far as you can see. At high tide, you can go up that river. We did that last week and saw about 30 turtles in there. Well done.

The wooden ribs you found could be the wreck of the Yankee Girl. She came ashore in that area in the late 50’s. If that is the same boat, she was a 60’+- gaff rigged schooner, rumored to have been a rum-runner in the 20’s. Beautiful boat.

Awesome video. I grew up in Beaufort Nc where the Parker factory is. The owner Linwood Parker liver across the street and was a very close to my family. They are the best boats made like this.
