Every effort must be made to restore the Mississippi river delta and the important coastal wetlands of Southeast Louisianna! Important ecosystems and local economies of the region depend on it. Politicians must become engaged in protecting the people of this region by finally waking up to its vulnerability to global warming and rising sea levels and making the changes that are so necessary to reclaiming these wetlands as nature had intended to protect both people and wildlife!

It is good to hear that BP is *finally* stepping up to do something constructive to help this area. With all their propaganda, you'd think that they had already made things right. WE would be better off if they spent that advertising money on restoring the gulf coast network.

Finally, something done to repair what humans have done to this planet! I am happy! And we need to do more, to become more aware that this is our home, no matter where on Earth something happens, we have to care and help! There's no other home for the human race yet! This is all we've got! Defend it, help it, nurture it, as She has nurtured us for millenia!

Coming from the IA/Ill area of the river, and having lived in La/Tx all my life, I fully understand the necessity of the need of a healthy River and coastal area's. Now that the money is finally available, I say "lets get on with it " . And don't let it happen again!!

The back woods of Ventura has been burning out of control since 4:30 this afternoon; it started in a mobile home. A house was on fire the last time I checked; the winds are the highest I've seen them in years. We need to conserve and save what we can. We don't own the land; it owns us!

Thank goodness this vital work is finally happening because without it scientists have said the destruction of coastal cities would be inevitable.

Some see only devastation, destruction black smoke & charred earth while others see rich, fertile soil full of life waiting to nurture and give life once again. It's all in the way you decide to see life. It's far easier to give up especially when you have valid reasons, but its far more difficult to start over to make hope when there is none. The rewards will be far greater than you can imagine. Take a chance and have faith

If you're a governmental politician / member in the USA please go to 7:05 and turn up the volume very loud. It's you who needs to be making the large donations to projects like this because they are not only fixing up the mess caused by a corporation which has probably funded your campaign but these programs also replace your insufficient relief projects.

BP MUST be held accountable and ALL costs to restore any damage has to be on their multi billion dollar shoulders! After that....NO MORE DRILLING!!!

I'm with Laura--boycotting may not help a lot but lots of "littles" add up to a lot.I haven't been in a BP service station in over two years. If more of us made a stand it would have an impact I'm sure. Have we had a petition for this cause? excuse me if Ive missed a petition - maybe before I joined care 2

As Ronald Reagan would have said about all the dams and levees in the Missouri, Mississippi and Ohio Rivers: "Mr. Gorbachev! Tear down these dams and levees!" New Orleans needs to get those sediments again and the Gulf of Mexico fishies need to get those the nutrients again.

I hope BP (with their criminal/murderous acts) and other ignorant people WAKE UP from this and that everybody learns from this horrendous act so it never occurs again. What a shame that such a tragedy and suffering such as this occurred in the first place. I hope BP doesn't get away with a slap on the hand on this horrific incident but that BP really has to pay for this so they will never, ever attempt such an atrocity again.

BP owes much more that money cant buy! Our wildlife has suffered, tourism has suffered, businesses has closed and we are still getting tar balls washing up on our beaches. Th chemicals they used has shown signs of deteriorating the bottom life of the Gulf. They need to shut down all drilling in our coastlines and not just Florida. They are irresponsible and do not maintain their logs or their checklists for preventing accidents that will destroy more wildlife and livelihoods. I live in Florida!

only in America would this happen. When BP drills in the UK waters there are stronger safe guards to prevent a spill like this.

BP should Hang their Head in "SHAME"..... This is their RESPONSIBILITY and they need to STEP-UP and Fulfill it!! I am glad that we are able to BEGIN the RESTORATION and HELP SAVE OUR PLANET, OUR WILDLIFE, and THEIR HABITAT!! We all know that things "WILL NEVER" be the Same Again!!

the loss of marine life is astronomical and the water distruction to the land involved has been destroyed.They need to move up there master plan and get these projects in action as soon as possible before more water distruction to the island and costal areas get worse.

BP must pay so much to all those hurt but they can never undo the damage they have done to animals, birds, their habitat, fish, and ocean life. Mr. President do you or Congress really think the Keystone pipeline will not do the same thing? Of course it will and tar sand oil is worse.
@sashatate72211 жыл бұрын
The government should not allow any more drilling! Lets get going on clean energy, not just talk about it! One trillion barrels in reserves, get busy on clean energy! Quit destroying the environment, go with solar and wind and quit drilling!
