Ive fished (not all mine) spinners of all sizes, sennators 6/0 9/0 12/0 14/0 16/0, single and 2 speed 50s, 50w, 80, 80w 130 over the last 5 years. The main difference in reels is the amount of effort it takes to do something, and how it takes the abuse of doing these things. 50s, and 50ws are a lot weaker and take a lot more ware when fished the same as 80s-130reels. When you drop far the performance of a reel goes down in every aspect except drag. Your retrieve ratio gets greatly reduced when bombing small reels because of the spool shrinking, this slows your retrieve and makes you work more. You can bomb a 130 a 1000 yds and barely take the spool down with good braid. I fish with more confidence with my 80s and 130 then when I had 50s. But that is for how I fish now. Perfect introductory combo to big gear is a graphite 50 or 50w and a 50+# rod and 130 -150lb braid light strong and makes fun of all fish and not super expensive. A 80w combo is the perfect combo for lbsf shark fishing to do it all, and the trx 80w is said to be the best reel for lbsf because of size and power since a 130 is to much reel for most people and most fish.

First i love this video lots of great info. Second i have a question. In a comment yall say "250-300 paddle strokes". Is that a 1,2 =1 stroke or single stroke to one side. And if going off of strokes approximately how many yards is 250 paddle strokes?
@evanpapp2712 Жыл бұрын
You just gotta figure out what works for your beach. 250 paddles is gonna be a different distance for everyone in every different kayak with every different paddle. It’s all about knowing the layout of your beach and where the sandbars are. As a good rule of thumb I drop my short bait as soon as I can’t touch the bottom with my paddle. Some places it’s 50 yards others it’s 300. Sharks swim everywhere and further doesn’t always mean bigger. Just don’t go further than half your spool and you’ll be fine.

I personally do have 80Ws but I wouldn't tell someone they should be using a certain type of reel. And if you do read this how far do you bomb your baits out? I'm sending it around half a spool down in south Florida but I manage to mostly get blacktips. Thanks and keep it up you definitely deserve more views and subs! 🤘🔥🔥
@GulfCoastNation3 жыл бұрын
We understand where you are coming from but irresponsible shark fishing has lead to the regulations we now face in FL. One day it could lead to more county bans on shark fishing. Many if these issues arise from dead sharks via improper gear or too long of fights. We are willing to suggest not using senators for big game sharks and not using low drag to make sure the sport stays alive. Some truths are easier than others to spread. And as far as bait drops go. In south FL we look do around 250-300 paddle strokes in the kayak! "Half spool" would be hard to know how far that is. We don't know what your reel is lined with or how much. Appreciate the support to the channel brotha, we will keep it coming and do our best to keep improving content for you! Also appreciate these questions
