Great info, but here is a tip for you to break off or cut that single strand much faster and easier. Especially at the end of that haywire. Shape the tag end into a crank shape think kind of like a Z or N, then take the end and crank or rotate it at the point where you want it to break. You’ll be amazed at how quickly and easily it snaps in this way. 🎣

@proscapedesigns5 жыл бұрын
On that set up I'd run 80lb braid bottom (about 500 yards), then top shot with 80 lb mono. Recommend XtremeBraid or power pro for braid; Andy monster or suffix for mono. Run these rigs with the mustad with rocks for weights and break away mono to tie on... best trick I've learned since it's hell to reel in on smaller gear those large weights in...

Hey man. Love the video. Do you ever have issues with sharks kinking your single strand and breaking it though? I feel like that would be an issue with it getting caught on the shark and kinking and eventually breaking.

I've seen a guys channel when he gets the shark close he clips a thick rope onto the wire and traces with the rope, when the rope is clipped on I'm pretty sure he cuts the mono, he must have the rope tied off to the rod holder if it takes one last run, I kind of like the idea tracing with thick rope

I was watching another one of your videos and you were talking about the weights you use and signature way of attaching them. My question is have you ever used anything less than 50lb mono to attach the weight to the line? I was thinking about trying 10lb mono hoping whatever takes the bait will break the line.
@khanartist79877 жыл бұрын
I've got a serious question for you guys. What do you do about passing boats when you have your bait a couple hundred yards out? Some boats cruise pretty close and that could ruin your whole day if it hits your line.
@LandsharkOutdoors7 жыл бұрын
Doesn't happen that often tbh, if I see one I will let all my lines go slack and usually have no issue. Then again we fish mainly at night and not many boats running the beach at night. +Seth Eltz

I am curious as to why you don't use the 49 strand wire offered by AFW ? Great video, I just subbed you.
@texasbeast39374 жыл бұрын
Sharks can easily bite through 49 strand wire
@dragginalinecatfishing47194 жыл бұрын
@@texasbeast3937 That's why you use a heavy circle hook, the hook will set in the corner of the mouth. The leader is outside the mouth, then all you have to worry about is tail whipping. They won't tail whip through 49 strand.
@texasbeast39374 жыл бұрын
@@dragginalinecatfishing4719 nah they’ll still get a hold of the wire because they don’t bite through wire they’ll kink it

@fredsavina49652 жыл бұрын
How come no knots work in 50 lb mono? Is it just one of those things? Fisherman know to avoid 50 lb mono because the knots untie themselves? Ive tried these ones for 500 lb mono, ones for 30-40 lb mono, etc. 50lb wont hold, why?

I'm just getting into shark fishing and I think your videos are great!but I need some advice, what kind of tackle would you use if you were going after smaller sharks from the beach? I'm saving up for a big boy rod and reel but I have a few smaller conventional reels I would like to get set up for sharking. The reels I have can hold about 350yards of 20lb mono. What would you use for your main line all the way to the hook? Thanks in advance.
