Mahi just didn't always think with her head, She was too emotional. Hurrem on the other hand was calm and collected (most of the time) and always made decisions with her head. That's the reason why she won in the end even though Mahi was in a much more advantageous position than her in the start. Even though Suleiman loved Hurrem more she could've still won if she didn't let her emotions get the better of her.

Gulfem basically offered her help to Mahidevran here when she told her the situation and said that they, THEY, had to do something about it. But Mahidevran instead of accepting, she got mad and disrespected her. Gulfem was willing to cooperate with her in order to get out of the situation but Mahidevran didn't listen just because Gulfem told her the truth, that she got in a very big debt. She didn't accept her mistakes and rejected the help when it came, and then later when it's too late she asks for help to ibrahim. I think she could've done something even when it was too late, when Gulfem was telling her the situation, maybe Gulfem could've helped her a little if she listen and said that, yes, she did a mistake. But yet again, she didn't listen to her because of her blinded hate

In real history, Gülfem Hatun's salary was higher than Mahidevran Sultan, so her rank might be higher than even the mother of Prince Mustafa. Some historians say, that she was a highly ranked court lady(and not Sultan Süleiman's concubine). But I doubt if court lady's salary could be higher than Mahidevran Sultan, even if she was highly ranked. Other historians say, that Gülfem Hatun is a Princess and a sister of Sultan Süleiman. But I doubt, because her father wasn't dinasty member, but a converter. So as a conclusion, I think Gülfem Hatun is Sultan Süleiman's far(not near) relative or his foster sister like Yahya Efendi. But only God knows the truth.

But there's none except for some rare and sporadic mention of her name in the pages of history when Suleiman's past has to be dug out.
