Mustafas mistake was amassing allies and surrounding himself with people who treated him like he was the sultan and making every mistake he was told not to do making, and making decisions he knows are wrong then asking for forgiveness instead of permission because he thought he was untouchable

It didn't look good at all. Mustafa's head was turned by all that adulation and praise. I think Mustafa was rather weak and not all that intelligent in the way he was depicted in this show. He kept making "mistakes" starting even when he was still a child, and ran away to the army, then had to be rescued. As an adult he appeared to be taking the rule of the ruler into his own hands at times.

Suleyman survived during his father selim's reign who killed his sons because of his own cleverness and his mother , mustafa on the other hand was very overconfident and careless and mahidevran wasnt a strong mother like ayse hafsa sultan

I think he also knew because of what he went through with his father that his children with Hurrem would never be safe if Mustafa took the throne. Even if Mustafa didn't want to harm them, someone loyal to him would have.

@@fainafaina1940 but Hurrem, even though she a touch crazy like everyone else in this show haha, actually tried to make Suleyman stronger as well, Mustafa, his mom and Ibrahim tried to take Suleyman down. She was loyal to Suleyman and showed that again and again. Maybe thats why?

Mustafa over played his hand and got burned. He was already under valued as the Saltan would have preferred Memhet to reign but he died. Instead of laying low and just going with the program he made the mistake of making too many powerplays.

@@azi7567 that's natural. Because Mustafa was a prince and every prince then and nowadays are being born and taught only how to inherit a throne. So, that's natural. Moreover, Mahidevran knew whatba snake Hürrem is and that Hürrem will send Mustafa to death. So Mahidevran wanted to protect her son while Hürrem tried to ruin her own husband by slandering on his son. Every normal father would have a heart pain hearing lots of slanders about his children. So no need to blame Mahidevran in this case

The Sultan is both a father and a ruler. Even the Sultan must submit to the throne, and Mustafa was a threat to the throne. As a father he mourned the death of his son and would never be the same because of it.

Mustafa is just like his mother, he never thinks before he makes decisions he just acts smh And to top it off he never takes accountability. He's wrong for getting married without the Sultans permission and instead of realizing this he wants to find out who betrayed him smh You betrayed yourself Mustafa and your Father Sultan Suleiman.

@@alorahman8521he thought he was better than his father for one. he lied to his father over and over and lost his head over it. marriage is a huge deal for princes, and he did it behind his fathers back. he also stole from the treasury and mobilized troops against his father and brothers.

Mustafa’s downfall came because of his ego which his mother fostered from the day of his birth. There was never a time when she didn’t tell him he would be Sultan. She never tried to instill humility in him.

Suleiman exactly caught the point From mahi,ibrahim to captain pasha n atmaca are on mustafas side because they knew that mustafa can be easily manipulated unlike mehmet Mahi did a very bad parenting of provoking mustafas anger towards his father n hurrem On the contrary hurrem made sure that her children obeyed their father first

That's so true! Mahidevrans mistake was crying and ranting to Mustafa about every little nuisance that hurt her feelings so he grew up being angry at his father and Hurrem. But Hurrem knew the safest thing for her children was to obey and respect their father. Yet still people say Mustafa was killed for no reason. I do believe he was innocent, but he did give A LOT of reasons to be killed

While i think Mustafa really flew in the face of his father and got in trouble for it (as he should), Suleiman really had to realize that both Mustafa and Bayezid took from his example by marrying the women they loved.

Suleiman trusted and forgave mustafa many many countless times just because of the trust and affection he had for his son, his blood. However mustafa always overtakes Suleiman and threatens him indirectly that he is more powerful and intelligent than suleiman. Mustafa actually deserved his death but not for the reason he was shown to be executed for. He never betrayed suleiman there's no doubt in that. But it was his own oversmart and disobedient nature that resulted in his death.

@@hamnayousaf5592 and why "should" he share his power? The throne is made only for one person and only one. If anyone dares to express his dreams or lays his eyes on the throne while the owner of the throne is still alive, it will be considered a rebellion without any doubt. Besides, fyi suleiman never was disobedient to his father unlike mustafa who always keeps overtaking him as if he is Suleiman's rival and more powerful and braver than him. Suleiman did mistakes, yes. But mistakes almost every Shehzade at one point makes. However, he was a very well behaved son and prince to his father which was mentioned quite a few times by mahidevran and valide sultan in the midst of some episodes.

"How could you break tradition?" Wasn't that more or less what Suleyman's mother reproached her son with after he married Hurrem - a mere concubine? And wasn't it tradition NOT to have more than one son with one concubine? Yet Suleyman defied tradition time and again for Hurrem. Why couldn't he understand that Mustafa was IN LOVE with his wife and wanted to honor her by marrying her? Suleyman wrote beautiful love poems for Hurrem. Surely he must have understood that love overrules any tradition and rule someone invented centuries ago. Well, one cannot rewrite history. But it absolutely baffles me, why Suleyman had so little faith and understanding for the ruling of the heart.

You're forgetting that Suleyman was already sultan when he decided to marry Hurrem because as a sultan he could do anything he wanted. Mustafa is a mere prince who decided to marry without telling the sultan. Now, if that was Mustafa's only mistake I'm sure Suleyman wouldn't make a big deal out of it. But this was one of MANY MANY mistakes that Mustafa made, so even thoough is something minor, when put together with the rest of his mistakes it seems gigantic

Ironically, people blame Mahidevran for poisoning Mustafa and yet... It was Hurrem's child who participated in killing a sibling (Mihrimah) It was Hurrem's child who rebelled against and betrayed Suleyman (Bayezid) It was Hurrem's child who plotted against brother leading to his death (Selim)

Because it was tradition and rules that no shehzade can get married. However, actually they can marry as they tried to marry him with the princess of giray khan, aybige but it didn't happen. I don't get the devotion to Mustafa that Cihangir and Bayezid have. After all Mustafa's mother killed Memhet. They are not dealing with reality. Mehmet would have been a great sultan because he had a conscience and was smart. Don't feel sorry for Mustafa, a traitor is a traitor even if it's your son. He had to die as if he were banished he still would try to rally his supporters against his father. Mahidevran spoiled him and made him feel above everyone and privileged.
