Gulfstream Jet takeoff from Salt Lake City Airport with a night landing at Chicago Midway Airport!!

Hope you all enjoy this flight as we fly out of Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) and fly back to Chicago Midway Airport (MDW). This flight was flown under FAR Part 91 in compliance with flight department procedures. The beeping is the aircraft trimming. The screens flicker on camera but are perfectly ok. This video has been edited so not all procedures and check-lists are included. Some of the audio was lost when my front camera stopped so the radio calls at the end are not in time completely with the aircraft's position.

Great video Mark. The takeoff out of Salt lake was really overcast but the rest of the flight was beautiful a white cloud bed below you. Really enjoyed seeing the night landing into Midway. I think this is the first night landing you had on video with the Gulf Stream.

Getting up above the clouds never gets old. To leave behind the low overcast weather and fly along in the sunshine above it all is pretty neat. Wasn’t sure if people would like the night flying because you can’t see as much but since you and others seem to be ok with it I’ll maybe mix in a few more. Another Awesome video! Really loved the night landing! Question... I'm not a pilot but I sim alot and wondered why you can't land with the yaw damp on since its working the rudder for you? Thanks for taking the time to do these videos for us!!!

Thanks for coming along and especially leaving some feedback. I was not sure that people would like the night landing because you cannot see as much detail but I think it offers a unique perspective and I am glad that you and others seem to enjoy it. I will try to mix that in a little bit more. Also, great question. In strong crosswind situations, you may find yourself fighting the yaw damper as you try to make corrections. This is one of the main reasons why it is always disengaged for takeoff and landing. At altitude, you usually want to fly your airplane coordinated however, close to the ground while you are setting up for landing you may actually be cross-controlling the aircraft to allow the aircraft's longitudinal axis to align with the center of the runway. Leaving it on during landing can actually lead to a dangerous situation if the crosswind is string enough and you do not disengage it fast enough.
