Your regular pacing is just fine. Please don't feel insecure about it. Once you started stretching your pauses deliberately, it then became hard to follow.

Pretty sure librivox audiobooks are read by volunteers. Some are better than others but at the end of the day they are free and readily available. Some of the Jane Austen ones are fantastic. Worst one I ever heard was one of the Wuthering Heights audiobooks they did, it was unlistenable. But other than that most of them are decent
