I say gift the little ones and the rest enjoy the freedom of not shopping!! Also, how do you feel about “not in person” services, like ordering a meal that you pick up, yet the app asks you what you want to tip? I say zero as I have no idea if my order will be right or not till I get it home. Ugh.

Lol yes there are wayyyy too many “new tipping” options that I am not understanding at all. I am only tipping 20 percent on dining in, if I’m coming in to pickup my food and I’m going to be cleaning up my own mess then nope. Might throw a little in a jar but not very much. My teenager was with me when I put a dollar in a jar while grabbing boba tea and she was like mom are you only supposed to give a dollar here I’ve been giving 5 😂😩😩😩 i was like honey!!! A dollar is more than plenty for one minute of service and you’re not dining in.

I agree with the people who make everything about alcohol. I have never been a drinker or smoker and I feel like an outcast a lot of the time.

It can be so lonely when everyone’s revolving their whole social activities around alcohol ! Sometimes I just go do stuff (movies, restaurants ) all by myself just so I can get out and enjoy myself a little.

I agree 100% that commenting on another area’s cultures and practices is rude and should not ok, tipping is not really a thing here in France, and I know it can do a slight psychological damage to have to leave one when you visit a country where it’s customary, but workers in certain areas shouldn’t be paying the price of your grand ideas to make the world a better place, just admit you’re a rat 😂 I’ve always been raised on the « kill them with indifference » and although it might not necessarily work per se, it gives room for personal detachment and keep you from stooping too low, which can be comforting when facing a difficult situation. Kindness from anyone should be earned, and it’s not unkind to give someone the same treatment they’ve been giving you! Some naturally kind people have a hard time understanding it doesn’t change a thing to their natural kindness, it’s just about protecting yourself from others’ ill intentions. The alcohol one ☝🏼!! Even before becoming a Muslim I didn’t drink alcohol (I just never liked the taste), and I could not stand people for whom it was essential to having fun… Makes me think that I’ve just seen a FML of a woman saying her friends’ first reaction to her confessing she miscarried her first baby was to ask if it meant she could now resume drinking with them and I was like « excuse me, what??! » 😩😐

Wow can you imagine how out of touch you’d have to be to comment that after someone tells you something heartbreaking like that?? Howwww can they believe that’s appropriate? And yes detachment is a skill and I’m still working on it lol but it’s great to use when you know there’s no point in interacting further with a person or situation.
