Gumby 2015 Reboot - Check Out the Moon (UNRELEASED DEMO)

Song from the unreleased pilot for the Gumby reboot, made by Premavision and The Jim Henson Company. The pilot was pitched to Amazon, but it wasn’t picked up because of the head of Amazon who approved it got fired. The pilot and song were written by Martin Olson. This revival was planned to be released in 2015-2016, but wasn’t able to be released because of licensing issues with Classic Media. The show ended up never being released, even through it was planned to be picked up by Amazon for a bit.

Makes me wonder as to what could've been a great start into getting gumby back in the mainstream, maybe this revival would've had no dialogue at all and just have catchy songs like this paired up with animation? Who knows really.. P.S. i would love to do a cover of this! If only there were lyrics though..

As far as I know the pilot was never fully produced. Amazon were in talks to release the 2016 series but they pulled out due to rights issues surrounding the Clokeys' contract with Classic Media (which wasn't set to expire for a few more years) and the project just dwindled from there.

Although there are production photos of it being animated and voice acting being recorded so maybe it was completed to some extent

Maybe it’s for the best, I mean, they look AMAZING, but probably would of been ruined in CGI, that, and they probably wouldn’t find someone close to Dallas as Gumby, in recent years, this was kinda a problem. XD
