So I googled hack writer looking for this song and found out that it's an actual term referring to someone hired to write for close deadlines and paid by quantity not quality. This makes me think that the writer keeps missing deadlines because they want to refine their work and make it beautiful, but gets so wrapped up in it that they dont finish in time and have to suddenly pull a bunch of all-nighters to get a paycheck. To me at least, the "learned no lesson" line makes a lot more sense when you think of it like this.

the latin is from Catallus 16, a notoriously filthy latin poem whose translation wasn't released to the general public until the 20th century because of its content. people often claimed that all writing in ancient times was serious and philosophical in nature, etc, but the release of Catallus 16 proved them wrong. imo it resonates with what i think the main theme of being able to create for fun instead of just to please others or for the purpose of academia. sort of related, snake symbolism has signified creative life force for a long time.

Okay but a serious question: am I right in thinking that the Latin poem quoted throughout is Catullus 16? Knowing you, there's probably a lot of symbolic significance in that, in terms of the writing motif and the theme of freedom of art to be as coarse or soft as the author wants, but I want to gauge if that's intentional before I start speculating.
@ferry29436 жыл бұрын
Yup, that's catullus! I'm not going to pretend like there's some super deep meaning behind the lyrics, but the general theme is about author's freedom and trying to meet people's expectations and whatnot. Also I thought it would be a fun poem to put in so

One of my favorite things about your videos is how different the way you present the story through the art in each of them is. Like in some of your videos, you have a few, simple pictures, while in others, you have a fully animated PV, while in others still you've got this cool, colorful comic book format (like in this video). I don't know if any of this makes any sense, but basically, I love how different each of your PVs are, and yet how similar and uniquely Ferry they always come off as. That's also one of the many things I like about your music - it's so clearly your style, but it's varied enough that it makes every song stand out and be unique. Like, this sounds so similar to Macroapocalypse, and yet there are so many different elements that add a little more of an urgent, demonic tone to it that I can't quite put into words but which perfectly portrays the messages and feelings behind it. And there's just so much heart, soul, and creativity poured into each of these storylines that it's difficult to not be captivated by their beauty. Also, it doesn't hurt that this character is very very cute and I love her with all my heart and just want her to smile and be happy. So please, I beg you, leave my daughter alone :(

Weird theory time! Okie so this what I believe to be the story of this song, the girl shown is a song/story writer who is having trouble finding inspiration, so in desperation she makes a deal with a demonic entity that will constantly give her ideas. However, in order for the demon to give her ideas she is forced to share her body with the entity. However, after a while, all of the ideas start piling up and she has no idea what to do with all of them, so she stores them deep in her mind and is unable to contain them. This leads to the girl giving up control over her body in order to stop the demon from giving her ideas constantly. This is just my weird theory so I wouldn't be surprised if you disagree, I think the song itself is open to interpretation so this is just what I got from it.

this song is really cool!! the vibe i get from it is that the hack writer is really into classics and wants to write poetry/has a big project they do instead of their actual job, which is writing fast for deadlines. somehow she manages to summon the ancient Egyptian snake goddess Wadjet (i think it’s Wadjet because of the references to classical civilisation, which includes ancient egypt). she makes a deal with the deity so that it helps her with writing well to deadlines, but it takes a toll on her (hence ‘I keep on prancing inside the chorus line/Only alive enough to make the deadline’) this is all probably really inaccurate but it was fun to theorise :)

This PV is amazing. I love the contrast between simpler, subtle movements (i.e. the falling pages) and faster, more erratic ones (the books that move rapidly). I also love the color schemes you used-i think they're triadic (if that's the right word lmao) and the simplicity is really chatming. It feels like a living comic book that evolves with the story. While I think the mixing could have been a bit better, I really enjoyed the song overall! -And I ain't really one to talk considering all--the audio i've madd sounds like it was recorded on a potato lmao- Anyways. The art and harmonies make it so intense, and I didn't expect the Latin poem to mean what it did (from the translation in the subtitles) so I'm trying to piece together what it all means. I think the whole song could be about literary freedom?? and how the stress/pressures to hit deadlines, and constrain yourself in what you write, can lead to an individual hating their work and becoming tempted to indulge and become unconventional/reckless instead. Though this is literally a theory that I came up within 5 minutes because I could relate to that feeling a lot

Might be a t a d late to the party but here is my two cents. So this is either super obvious or I found something (probably the first one) but I think the character’s multiple arms are in reference to how she multi-tasks and over works to meet her writing deadlines. Edit: Also dyedviolets’ idea that they try to put effort into their work but can’t because of short deadlines, and that’s what the “you learn no lesson” lines are about, I feel is reinforced by the fact that they wear a blindfold, thus being blind to said realization
