@@ASS_ault Which one, Vasily? Edit: Considering it's been several days since I posted my reply to you and received none in return, I'll assume that you were referring to my comment regarding prototype models. First of all, my "a Russian starts crying" comment was meant more as a joke. Anyway, I've got to say that you might just be right. After doing some additonal research, I believe the following needs to be pointed out: The designation "AK-47" did appear in some of the trials reports. Moreover, operator's manuals issued in 1949, the year the rifle was adopted by the Soviet Armed forces as "Kalashnikov's 7.62mm Automatic Rifle, model of 1947", did refer to the rifle as "AK-47" (assumingly, by mistake). However, the manuals issued in '52 would use the designation "AK" instead of "AK-47". While Kalashnikov himself did often refer to the rifle as "AK-47", Kalashnikov Media (affiliated with the Kalashnikov Concern) uses the designation AK. Since I could find no definite answer as to what the correct designation of the rifle should be, I'd say that both variants are correct.
