His defenses are very sound but he is being a bit dishonest with the application of the traditional gun disarm. You don't just grab the gun, you grab it and burst in deep to the deadside to take into account the fact the person will likely retract the weapon. His disarm will work if the gun is at a low/mid low angle but the other one is better suited for mid/high but yeah.
