Deep Purple covered this tune the same year in a (proto) prog/heavy way - à-la-Vanilla Fudge ...and they blew away Cream when opened for them in a couple of gigs, in 1968

These guys are amazing and painfully underrated. My father was a big fan of 3 Man Army and discovered them thay way. I swear at times he sounds like Jack Bruce and sounds excellent on "Im So Glad" and gives Eric a run. Those Marshalls sound just phenomenal... Just Glorious and cranked!

If you read the back of their album (The Gun with Race With The Devil) they explain their kind of music. The call it 'Hard Rock'. It was the first time that a band used this name to express their style of music. So with 'The Gun' the HardRock music was born!

I listened to their first original record and they used a brass and violin sections. This disc, the design of which was created by Roger Dean (which was later illustrated with the covers of the group YES) is as essential and dazzling as it is unknown - To rediscover and taste without moderation, as soon as possible 🔥✨

I knew about Gun back in the day. Bought the album with the demonic cover. I thought they were pretty darn good. But seeing this now, in 2022 I think they were even better than the album. They coulda been contenders :)

As real as it gets. Phenomenal band. Not mentioned enough when describing the birth of heavy music. these guys were deffs one of the first to be this Heavy. You can hear the Cream, Vanilla fudge, and Hendrix influence,but they took it a step further and took what those guys were doing and really made it their own. can here the Ginger/Carmine double bass shuffle, which is a big part of it. and I'm so glad..obviously liked cream lol

There was alot of heavy stuff pre Led Zep for sure but you cant deny that they were really the first to make it big with the “heavy” sound thus why some people think they were the ones who invented it. Its ok those people just dont even know what they dont know

They're almost unknown, such a shame. Their music was heavier than any other band's back then. Only Jimi had a similar Fuzz sound on guitar. They were heavily influenced by the Experience of course, but there are many differences within the two bands, both very ahead for their time

.His drumming career was extraordinary ,particularly in the Gun, but also the Bulldog Breed, with another fine drummer, Peter Dunton ,as well as Bernard Jinks, both of T2 fame. Then the Knack . He keeps cropping up in the classic power trio Albums. He is so much more than Race With the Devil

Amazing surprise! My first time ever seeing any live video of the Gun!! Excellent track list and impressive performance. It was more of a British heavy Blues sound. Their weren't many bands i think that had a real heavy metal sound . Cream latter period of Yardbirds out of the ashes Zeppelin. Deep purple definitely. Warhorse Nicky Simper band Atomic Rooster Mountain ledlie West Blue Cheer over the top pre dawn metal . Again most bands i know leaving alot out they paved the way for what would become what we known in late 70s early 80's as British Heavy Metal..
