Clive Bunker the human machine gun. This bloke is something else.
@Revolution1117Ай бұрын
Clive was and is still one of the most under-rated drummers in Rock. Together with Glenn Cornick on bass they made up a top-notch rhythm section. This line-up, with also John Evans on keys, and of course Martin Barre on his Les Paul, was easily the best band Ian Anderson had assembled for Jethro Tull, IMO.
@leesaunders1930Ай бұрын
@Revolution1117 I agree what a top line up. However for bass I do prefer John Glascock when he was with Tull for a short tenure before he passed away which was and is a tragic loss of talent. Glenn Cornick was fantastic but in my opinion not as technical. I'm more than happy listening to both periods of Tull.

Wow... Clive Bunker! What timing! What Control! What Fantasy!!! And all the skills to bring that fantasy to life!!! Yet, even with all that, some of his simplest work shows what an incredible groove-master he is too, one of my favorites being 'Beggars Farm' from 'This Was'! Definitely one of the absolute best!

As really good as this is, I still like the original instumental from the This Was album, I always felt Jethro Tulls unique & original sound came from Glen Cornick and Clive's Bunkers rhythm section those guys fit together like a hand in a glove. Clive's Drumming is really fluid and creative. I always felt once the original members of any creative band quit or get fired it's just not the same band.

Would have been a nice touch at Woodstock and maybe even more exposure, but alas, wasn’t meant to be. Great lineup, unfortunately not long before the personal issues came to the fore. Glenn off to Wild Turkey and Clive getting married after thrashing on Aqualung. Great memories of a raw rocking bygone era.

@@SwingingCreeper I think what he meant by that is that Barriemore brought the technical aspect up like a keyboard player but left all this crudeness and vicerality of Clive Bunker behind, exactly what Ian Anderson wanted, someone to obey his genius leaving him as the only creative force in Jethro Tull alongside Martin L. Barre and Glenn Cornick who would left shortly after alongside Bunker

@@yhurebrito Understood. Except Glenn was also pushed out, because he enjoyed the rocker lifestyle too much, partying, drugs, and all that. Ian didn't tolerate that.
