@@unnamed6595 It’s not underrated. It’s just overlooked. Never seen anyone say it’s bad. People just don’t know about it. Remember renting it in the 80’s and it was always a solid choice to occupy you for a weekend.

I feel like all overhead shooters are. Twin Cobra is the best shooter on the NES and no one mentions it.

I used to play this game with my grandpa when I was a kid. We called it "thumb smoke" because your thumbs were usually smoking by the time you finished it. Thanks for the good memories.

I loved this arcade game as a kid in the 80's! I can't even count the weeks I used my lunch money to go to the local arcade after school. Before school I would fill my back pack full of snacks to eat at lunch time. I was one of the first kids in my local arcade group to beat this game. Did so with $4.50 after I learned the patterns and enemy movements.

I found Mr. Arcus via Summoning Salt. You play a ton of great games from our childhood. I'm so glad I found this one. I've been looking for a decent playthrough of this game. It was one of my favorites as a kid. Thank you sir!
@mk2mister22 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Ninja Gaiden is his game where he holds the record. I'm not only impressed at him being the record holder for Ninja Gaiden but the sheer number of NES games he has beaten rather quickly nonetheless.

Masterful....just masterful! I love your videos my man! You are one of the best speed runners I've ever seen. Gun smoke is near and dear to my heart. I've never gotten past level 5, but after watching this video, I'm confident that I can finish the entire game. Proper utilization of horses. That's what I picked up from this video. That's the key! Great job!

I like the added humming and whistling to the music you did. Adds a nice soothing presence to the video and music.

Hey bud this was the one game that drove me nuts playing as a kid still can't beat it. Plus I've watched several games over the past few days and dig the style mash mash mash clunk how ever you gotta do it keep it up. Watching you reminds me if my little cousins watching me play games. My first game was Bump N' Jump ! 👍👍

Watching Arcus play video games is like watching a pro guitar player, playing guitar. We can all pick up a guitar and strum the strings. Just like we can all pick up a controller and play a video game. It takes a true master to play games like Arcus plays them. It is through hard work and massive hours. No one picks these things up and are just this good at them. Sure there is a God given gift that can give someone an edge on skills in the world. I just don't like taking away from all the hard work and countless hours these people put into their craft! Video game playing at this level is a craft. It is a skill.

See, I woulda did a speedrun of this, but it's soundtrack is just too amazing for words. (Capcom vs Konami: 8bit NES music war)
@jamesmurray43124 жыл бұрын
@@Kwaj oh Capcom definitely won the war. Took over 30 years, but they did whwn Disney used the Moon Theme from the Ducktales game, in the new Ducktales show. As far as Konami goes, they almost had it, but they kinda cheated because they used a certain audio chip in their Japan released games, and I heard they put it in Bayou Billy. As much as I love Capcom, that first stage song in Bayou Billy, is still my overall favorite 8bit NES song, but I do find myself listening to more 8bit NES Capcom songs.

Wow, why hasn't he come back to this? He has a real chance of challenging the WR. Less than a minute off.
@joedoe10964 жыл бұрын
It's probably really hard to shave a whole minute off this game, as it auto-scrolls, so the only real gain you can get is from flawless boss tactics. It's more fun to speedrun games where you aren't forced to sit through long portions of auto-scrolling, nor is it particularly enthralling to watch, so few bother.

All the time savings lies in menuing and how fast you can beat the bosses.
@BTheBlindRef4 жыл бұрын
@@FinalManaTrigger I was wondering the same thing. The WR is like 50 seconds(!) faster than this time. I imagine some savings over this run, but his menuing was pretty quick and I can imagine a little time savings on the bosses, but 50 seconds worth? I have no idea how that works.
