The reason for two box covers is because it had a Saloon on it (that clearly says Bar) and Nintendo had them change it because of their well-known, strict American censorship policy from that time.

You are right Mike, Gunsmoke was a tv show, and when they put the game out they didnt want people thinking it was related to the tv show, and they wanted to avoid copyright infringement. So they made the name Gun.Smoke

Doing some research, checking some facts, and skimming through game instructions before recording a video isn't always one of Cinemassacre's strong suits, lol. They just pick a game, and go "What the hell is this? Why this title? How the hell do you play this? This game sucks!"

My comment was purely neutral, not meant as a complaint :) But for the most part I agree, it's funny. Sometimes, though, slightly frustrating, as they equate not knowing how a game works with the game supposedly being poorly designed, lol.

Tonto* was not a Ranger though, and the lone ranger was only called such because he was the last ranger surviving from his ranger group, not because he is alone. a lone gunman by definition is alone... or at lest the only one with a gun

Why were there two versions of the game with different labels? Two versions of Gun.Smoke were released under license in America by Romstar. One has a fixed sequence of bosses; in the other, the third and sixth levels are swapped, so that Roy is followed by Wolf Chief, and Pig Joe is followed by Ninja. The other version also removes the boss rundown.

There's a pretty cool samurai in the old West movie called Red Sun. It stars Charles Bronson and Toshiro Mifune. Bronson plays the leader of a group of train robbers who hold up a special train carrying a diplomatic envoy from a Japan. They were going bring a ceremonial katana sword to the president of the United States. One of Bronson's gang double-crosses him and takes the sword. Toshiro Mifune is a samurai who's duty was was to guard the sword and now it's up to him to get it back. Bronson and Mifune team up, one for revenge and one to keep his honor.

This game is sick! Too bad it's a bit short. Sure, you can't shoot down, but if you could those guys on stage 4 wouldn't be any added challenge. I like it for that reason. If you can shoot down you always gotta pay attention for what's behind you but in this one it's really only an issue on stage 4. Next time, try to keep the shotgun and use it since it's much easier to hit those guys. The posters will just let you fight the boss. If you don't have it, the stage will just keep looping which happened at stage 1 where it looped like 3 times before you fought the boss. Thanks for the video!

1966 Batman was polite because that was the times. During the 60's, the rebellious age bouncing from the 50's was on rise. So, to have a superhero which was obeying the law every which way was the best way to prevent children from committing crimes or staying out late. Note: Batman and Robin were never out late or at night.

No, Mike was closest with performance issues being the reason to omit the 2 player mode. ROM cartridges can be unlimited in size if you start using bank-switching techniques, best example is Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on Sega Genesis. Since Action 52 was brought up, it is actually the largest NES game in terms of ROM information. It has 2MB which quite frankly scares me. Final Fight on the SNES was just because Capcom was being retarded.

Cesar C.T. But rom size isn't an issue here anyway. 2 player would use the same sprite pallet swapped. Hardly any extra code. If they made it one player for technical reasons, it would be because of performance.

Final Fight for SNES was one player because the big sprites on a home console game were a big deal and it was probably pushing the console limit with just one player. Seems with the sequels they had to reduce the sprite size to allow two players without exceeding the sprite limit.

This was one I had as a kid and played the hell out of. As an adult I bought a copy of each game I had back then, which wasn't many. Just a few early titles. The guns make a huge difference, they just ran the magnum out of ammo so fast they didn't realize anything even changed. It does get rough beyond the ninja level. You have to use a bit of strategy with your items. Different guns in certain places, know when to use the smart bomb (when you get hit you don't die and it kills everything on screen) and know when to buy a horse which takes a few hits before it dies so it's like extra lives.

The reason it aint 2 players is: They didn't code it to be 2 players.. it may sound easy but everything you implement is a lot of work in game development. they probably didnt think multiplayer was a priority

Hell, MegaMan was a 1 player game and it used to freeze! Mike might be right. It might be a performance issue. If you program the game for two players you'd have to double the amount of enemies, otherwise it would be too easy. Or maybe James was on his period and felt like comlaining about every little thing.

No, TECMO did make Ninja Gaiden. TECHNOS made Double Dragon and the Kunio franchise, which became their mascot. And to just to confuse Mike more, there was also TECHNOSOFT, a different company whose only memorable franchise was Thunder Force (of which people argue TF3 being one of the best Genesis shooters).
