Gday mate! Stoked you’re enjoying the content. Yes the engines are tough, if a big underpowered. When you’re off-road it doesn’t really matter it’s more when you’re Highway diving. Personally I don’t have a big problem with it. Just keep in mind when loaded up you’ll struggle to maintain speed up hill. But once again it’s not about how fast you get there it’s about enjoying the drive!

Is the Gunbarrel hwy, a part of the Great central hwy..? If so I made that trip in 2014.. it was an amazing trip..

So the Great Central is a different road that the Sections of the Gunbarrel intersect with at various points. Where the great central is a relative straight run through to Yulara, the Gunbarrel is a mostly unmaintained trail that travels east/west starting/ending at Wiluna in the west and ends/starts at victory downs. Now to call it a Highway is inaccurate haha it’s a rugged unforgiving track. We completed whats considered to be the new gunbarrel which is between Wiluna to Warburton. From there it crosses over the great central and actually heads south into south Australia through what’s generally thought of as the “old” gunbarrel. All in all there is thousands of Ks of random tracks and small of shoots and short cuts. I would like to attempt the old gunbarrel one day but it would be with a much much smaller team and fuel dumps would need to be organised. Hi Tony, probably a silly question, but am just curious.. Are you on 4wd mode the whole time while on Gun barrel highway? What’s your average speed on it? Cheers!🎉

Gday mate! Not a silly question at all! So a track like this you’re in 4H pretty much the whole time. The main reason for this is the corrugations are so bad that you lose traction really easily on the corners and turns. We also experienced wash outs pretty frequently. Speed wise you were lucky to get out of 2nd gear! 15-25kmph average speed
