Good review by GunBlastdotcom, with a quick look at the Rock Island Armory “Baby Rock” in .380 caliber. It's a straight blow-back pistol, in it's design. Some of the Bably Rock features emulate the Colt 1911 pistols. [ John Browning was a genius with his delayed blowback/locked breech design. ] ... The Baby-Rock looks like a handy gun to own.

Just picked one up. Hefty little gun and should be fun to shoot. Ask any one of the .380 doubters if they would volunteer to stand in front of one! Less recoil equals more rounds on target.

Love my .380 Baby Rock. Summer time this is my conceal carry. Other seasons I carry my full size .45 1911. Not hard to handle either if you've trained enough on them, and there never is enough training you can do.

My late Dad had a llama 380 in the 70s and 80s 380. Nice gun .thinking of getting this for my oldest grandson for EDC. Might recommend for a bugout bag for others.,.. urban version as in sling bag.

I just got one of these sweet little guns and am liking it a lot, so far! They only come with one magazine now, so that's a bit of a bummer. I just installed DuraGrip grips, with Allen Head button screws to replace the ugly slotted screws. For anybody wanting to replace grip screws, you'll need a 6-40 x 1/4". Looks sweet. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, though.

I purchased to "Baby Rock" in April 18 and although I like the gun there have been a few problems. (1) Trigger pull was 12# plus...sent back to Ria, they made adjustments for free in about 2 weeks. After return trigger was about 8# so the mighty smith worked it down to 5#. Works for me!! (2) Then discovered that the grip safety was NOT working!! I determined that this was caused by the trigger shoe being to small, leaving vertical slop. If you pressed the trigger at the top it caused the trigger bow to fall at the rear allowing the gun to fire regardless. If the trigger was pressed at the bottom the bow remained high enough to prevent firing as designed. PROBLEM: where to get a taller shoe an file to fit. Still working on that. Love the gun but minor issues are irritating anyway..

All of the Baby Rocks in the pipeline in july of 2019 had soft slides and would stop locking back after about 100 rounds. I checked out two of them with the same results. The manufacturer told me that ALL of the Baby Rocks had the same issue and that their technicians were aware of it. There were NO immediate plans to fix the meallurgy or to recall the defective products. They seemed unconcerned and assured me that they would not mind if I wrote up the results. Declined.

I had the Ruger lcp .380 and couldn’t hit anything more than 5 ft away. I can shoot larger calibers with no issue. That little .380 I just couldn’t do it. I been looking at this pistol, maybe a gun-shop would let me test fire

For a 1911 style .380 I much prefer a safety that engages & locks the slide unlike some of it's competition. Are these still made in the Phillippines?

Okay, I've never owned a 1911 type but I did hold a Rock Island and the grip safety felt much stiffer than the one on the Springfield. Can that be a problem?

If you have arthritis in your thumb or a little thumb, I suppose. The firearm needs a break in period and the safety will loosen up some over time. It can also be polished to help as well. Since this is a new gun you probably won't find it used, but you could also check out used Rock Island firearms and see how they feel after use.

I own both, you shouldn’t notice any difference. Trigger on my RIA is noticeably better than my Springfield’s.

I am most likely way late and I just bought the baby rock. I have had the Makarov for 10 plus years. I reload and have intentionally loaded short, long hot, low and all kinds of shapes of bullets in one magazine trying to make it fail. No luck and have never had a failure to feed of any kind. The trigger is way better than the baby rock. Personally I have never shot a gun with so tough a trigger. I have had one failure to feed in my first 100 rounds. I got it real cheap so not complaining. I like the 1911 styles and why I bought it. I will still continue to carry a Glock or a Kimber

I have Colt Government which is just a miniature 1911. Was a great pocket gun in it's day but I would never carry .380 as a primary gun, even a 13 shot Browning. The only way today that I carry a .380 is a Ruger LCP in a FOBUS ankle holster as a 3rd pistol. BTW my Firestar M43 9MM is one of the most reliable guns I've ever owned

Rudy Padilla they won’t because it’s blowback. 9mm is too high of pressure. The recoil spring would need to be crazy stiff to make it happen.
