While the work on this kit is gorgeous, I do want anyone thinking this is anything near “normal” GunPla to not worry. This is like, the furthest extreme level of it. You can get deep into GunPla building and never need to worry about sanding or masking or any of that if you don’t actively want to go down that road. Don’t let the insanity and complexity of this build put you off.

For those who want to check out this mech in regular model kit form, this is the Sazabi from Gundam Char's Counterattack. It has 3 major versions, the HG, the RG and the MG Ver Ka. The HG is the cheapest but it's super simple. The RG is arguably the best version and is fairly affordable and it's quite complex. The MG Ver Ka is the largest, it's incredibly detailed and complex but it's the most expensive one.

Seconding the quality of the Real Grade Sazabi. It's a beautiful kit and it's a big chonky boi too. I've got it posed with my RG Nu Gundam and they both look stunning. Only real bugbear is the shoulder joints and how they assemble but just TAKE YOUR TIME and pay attention to the manual. Thankfully I didn't break mine, but other people have had issues snapping the parts together because they are a TIGHT fit and some have broken theirs.

That's one of the things I love about building these kits. You can go for a straight out of the box, simple build or you can customize and modify it to hell and back. I guess if you really want it to but you don’t have to make it expensive. Imo the most expensive thing is a back log! If you don’t buy a ton of kits just to store it’s not crazy expensive until you get into resin kits. You can buy a small amount of paints to get you started, you can buy a good airbrush for 100 bucks now, and a decent set of nippers and basic tools will be under 50 bucks. All of which you can acquire over time. It takes me a while to finish a kit so I’m not pumping out 2 a month like some people though so it’s not crazy expensive for me. Any hobby can get expensive if you want it to and FOMO certainly makes things expensive tho!😂

I’ve been building and customizing gunpla for a few years now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a build that costs 1k to make! I mean even if you buy an amazing work of art like a Kallamity kit it’s still a couple or few hundred dollars so wtf are you building!?!?

Battletech stole the design from Shoji Kawamori.
@lorcannagle6 ай бұрын
@@taylordiclemente5163 FASA actually licensed the Macross, Dougram and Crusher Joe art from a company called Twentieth Century Imports, who had import licenses for many lines of Japanese model kits. By the time of the lawsuits between FASA and Harmony Gold in the 90s, TCI were long-gone and as such FASA had only shakey ground on which to justify their continued use of the art, and decided to discontinue use of any external artwork following these legal issues. The further complicate issues, Catalyst Game Labs, BattleTech's current publishers went to Big West and Sunrise around 15 years ago and did obtain licenses to use the art again. But upon doing so were presented with a sealed agreement by Harmony Gold preventing them from using the Macross art. While there was continuity between FASA and CGL, nobody still with the game was privy to the details of the legal wrangling in the 90s and as such had no idea of the sealed agreement. And it's worth noting that when CGL, Piranha Games and Harebrained Schemes redesigned the Macross mechs to bring them back to prominence in the games, Harmony Gold sued them about it anyway, and lost this time.

Really interesting but I'd love to see more regular gunpla kits because resin kits are so inaccessible. To get a resin kit actually up on running you need everything from an ultrasonic tub for cleaning to airbrush guns. For normal gunpla all you need is the kit itself and everything else you can do from painting to panel lines to weathering is all extra
@Stirghetti6 ай бұрын
You don't need any of that. You're making it inaccessible to yourself. But also this is an illicit kit and many in the west are.
@thoughtengine6 ай бұрын
Resin isn't inaccessible; I've got loads of it. It's how the market for Queensland Government Railways rollingstock in HO is fed; and the majority of tabletop games that aren't metal. Ultrasonics is just going overboard, and I've mostly used rattlecans to paint. You do know some gunpla kits aren't actually moulded in colour, yes?
