Just to let you know since you're new. Every giant robot in every Gundam series is called a Mobile Suit. Everything Mobile Suit has a specific name to them. Not every mobile suit is a Gundam. Once you start watching a Gundam series, it will be really easy to tell what a Gundam and what not one

easy-ish, most of the time, yeah, but sometimes the line gets a bit blurry, even in seed, there are mobile suits that look identical to gundams, but arent. and in other series like 00 and iron blooded orphans, there are suits that DO NOT look like gundams but are. overall, the series will often explain what is a gundam, in seed, its suits that use phase shift armor, and have the gundam acronym on its startup. in iron blooded orphans its suits that use the gundam frame. but 99% of the time, we use the duck logic, if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck...

This is not really the traditional "good vs. evil" nor "protect the earth" story. It's about a war between two factions of people and both sides each have good, bad or grey area people within. It shows how war can change people, and relationships. Those robots or "mobile suits" are merely the tools of war by the way. It was first created in 2002, but it was HD-remastered in 2012. I highly recommend it. Some might argue it's not necessarily the best Gundam series there is, but it's definitely one of the best especially for those who are completely new to the whole Gundam franchise. No need to watch the second season(destiny) though. Just the first season alone is very good.

There's just something so likable about Kira not being the typical overzealous charismatic MC but a more reserved, unsure type was refreshing. a And his dynamic with Athren was so interesting. Tbh I love everything about Athren🥺 Then you have 2 incredible female characters like Kigali and Lacus to balance everything out and this anime has had a hold on me ever since I stumbled on it for the first time ❤

I wouldn't say Gundam Seed is the GOAT Gundam series, far from it, but it definitely repopularized the Gundam franchise in the early 2000s, making new younger fans of Gundam series.

seed is pretty brutal when it comes to deaths. some are very unexpected, and others are absurdly gruesome. but one thing nobody can complain is that they kill for the shock value. every death has a meaning.

i mean, gundam is the goat of mecha. and seed is ALOT of people's favorite series. its not everybody's favorite. but it was the series that really set the stage for gundam to become the juggernaught it is today. and oyu just have to look how well the seed movie did in asia. a movie for a series that's been over for almost 20 years, and it dethroned both spyxfamily and demon slayer in the box office during its release week. it may not be the true goat, but its hard to say its not one of, if not the most popular of the franchise.

it also deals very heavily with the weight of war on normal people, trauma, ptsd. racism, its a series about war, that talks about the cycle of hate and how it fuels itself. its a story about normal people forced to fight a war and the effects it has on them.

A simple way of putting it is like all thumbs are fingers but not all fingers are thumbs. Here the Mechs o Mechas are called MS or Mobile Suits, and Gundam is a sub-type of Mobile Suit. In every Gundam series the reason why they're called Gundam changes from the material their made, the engines they have, etc, in Seed is mostly because of the OS or Operating System they have where Gundam is an acronym that can vary (although little) on the Gundam model or generation of itself. Is like we call all vehicules but within them there are buses, trucks, trains, bikes, motobikes, and cars and inside there are sedan, pick-ups, hatchbacks, SUVs, etc, the same applies to Mobile Suits, Gundams, Mobiles Armors and such.

I love Gundam Seed. But it's really really hard to recommend. The MC of Gundam Seed doesn't like to kill people so it kinda puts off most people. If I remember correctly, people also didn't like Banagher from Unicorn for the same reason.

It really is one of those anime where the MC isn't the centre of the plot too. But I love it for that because it makes a lot of the side characters stand out more and they are more memorable. I still can't look at Fluer's pictures without screaming, that girl was insane😂 I tried recommending it to my friend and after episode 1 she looked at me like I was insane 😂 but she pushed through and after the episode with Athren and Kigali on the island, she was finally down to finish it and now she's as obsessed as I am.
