Yeah, we really don't give ocean enough credit. While I do think Funimation is superior in every way, it seems ocean has found their groove at last. In the case of gundam Ceed, I honestly can't tell you which dubbing is better.

When this came out, I was just getting into anime, so this whole series pretty much blew my mind at the time. It sounds silly now, but after being raised on stuff like Batman, Spider-Man, and the like, Gundam SEED and InuYasha literally changed my life. I'd always loved cartoons, and realizing there were such amazing, mature stories, not just "little kid crap" as my father called any cartoon at the time, gave me such joy, and got me hooked fo life!

I always loved how he says the line "Theres no way the process can be stopped, Earth will burn and the ensuing cries of the victims will trigger battles anew" the Funimation dub just doesn't have what it takes, Rau in that just doesn't have it. I do think though that in Destiny when the Chairman and Rau speak in that one episode, you see more of Rau's thinking, i think deep inside himself, he wanted to be proven wrong, cause he even tells the Chairman that he isnt telling him to give up hope.

Ocean Rau's VA being so good is such a happy accident. Ocean's always been a studio with more hits and misses (it's probably just Death Note, Inuyasha and Black Lagoon as their successes), this show's dub itself is plagued with a bunch of badly-directed clunkers (poor Tabitha St. Germain takes until MLP to actually get good), and Mark Oliver's own portfolio was almost nothing but 00s also-rans. Yet here we are anyways, watching a video of a single character and his performance stealing an entire not-especially-good show in the space of its last seven episodes. Really wish that NYAV could've gotten him, Ed, Chantal Strand, and Jonathan Holmes back for their redub. Sucks that they probably only got Trevor Devall back as Mu in Freedom due to location issues.

Kevin is a great voice actor, and he does have some good lines as Rau ("BECAUSE I AM WHAT THEY _MADE_ ME!")... but in the end, he seems like he's still trying to be Griffith, not Rau. And whoever was casting the Dub went with it. Rau was defined by Mark Oliver and his magnificent voice, and it's impossible to replicate the astounding energy he exuded as this magnificent bastard ("I AM THE _ONLY_ ONE WHO'S EARNED THAT RIGHT!").

Most of the caste in the Remaster was so poorly directed. So I absolutely agree. The directing for the new dub was awful. I hope they bring back the original dub for any future dubs. It's tragic because Rau is my favourite character and they really dropped the bomb on him.

Seed peaked with LeCruset, he is just a consistent nihilist, Durandal formed the destiny plan because he was rejected by Gladys ei. "if I can't be happy then nobody can, genetics must dictates everything" and that blonde incel from the movie just copy pasted Durandals work as a facade to justify why "it should have been me not him" I mean I'd dare say LeCruset is one of the best villains in any media period In the long run though, if genesis did successfully fire on earth and wipe out half of life on earth, the naturals would be completely demoralized and wouldn't have much resourcs left to fight with half of earth irradiated and the lunar base is also gone while zaft still have the plants and rebuilding its agriculture block any sign of retliation from earth will result in another blast from genesis makin it the perfect deterrant, i mean if genesis did fire on earth would result in a zaft victory and would result in a short to medium term peace, LeCruset's plan would ironically lead to peace with half the population on earth dead but peace nonetheless

Durandal created the Destiny Plan long before he met up with Talia, although the break-up and loss of Rau had impact on him as well. Wait, I'm seeing the pattern here: Rau - knows nothing about human love Gil - was denied in love (they could've adopt Rey tho) -Glemy- -Ribbons- -Embryo- Orphee - thinks that love requires qualification on genetic level.
