In early October U.C. 0079, when the RGM-79 GM was first deployed to the troops, its performance did not fully meet the standards, and the GM was criticized by the unit's officers and soldiers. The backpack removed the beam saber mount, replaced with a Minovsky particle storage tank for single-unit Minovsky particle dispersion. Due to the removal of the beam saber mount, an additional combat knife was added to the left side of the backpack. The shoulder armor was increased, with two wire-guided anti-MS missiles mounted on the right shoulder. The left shoulder had a small upper arm shield. The front skirt armor and two battery boxes had additional deflection plates, and the left skirt armor had two spare magazines, while the right skirt armor held three extendable handle grenades. Other armaments included a bullpup machine gun with a triple grenade launcher and a specialized pistol with an under-barrel flamethrower. Captain Gray of the 17th Armored Marine Division's Special Operations Second Platoon piloted this unit, leading his men in the Borneo landing operation on December 2nd. According to records, they encountered one Gouf-type MS and two Zaku II-type MS units, but the combat results were not documented.
