The operation was part of Exercise Spartan Valkyrie at Malemute Drop Zone on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska. Filmed on March 20, 2015. Ahhhhhh Malamute DZ. I spent so much time there. I set that DZ up for drops so many times. Nothing like pulling Malfunction duty. 534th QM Det 02-06. Loved when the Artillery boys would do a heavy drop with a live fire follow on.

Do the gun crews jump from the same planes as the guns, or from different planes?

+WhiteCamry Different planes. Planes carrying the howitzers will go in and conduct the heavy drop first. Right behind them will be the paratroopers.

Really? Did your unit not refer to yourselves as paratroopers? When I was in the 82nd everybody everybody with jump wings was a paratrooper. I was Infantry, but I remember the 1-319 Field Artillery battalion t shirts said US Paratrooper on the back with the cross cannons and baytalion crest.

Ah, I see. I actually started off as a 13B as well but I was mech and absolutely loathed the Paladin and spending a stupid amount of time in the motor pool. When I reenlisted I reclassed to 11B and hit Airborne School. Didn't get to work too much with the arty units at Bragg but they seemed squared away and watching the heavy drops and sling load ops was cool. If I'd gone Airborne Arty when I first went in I might have stayed a Red Leg.

Wow chute design has changed since my crewmates dropped emplaced and fired the very first 198. Army Achievement Medal '85 i believe it was. My Name is Witten, Lyonal R. And Chuck Smith was one of my mates! Airborne!

VERY, VERY Impressive! Just awesome! Zoomies come over low and few minutes later, rounds are going Down Range! Great video, great piece of work! I was with the 2nd Marine Division (Mostly.) Our Arty Unit was/is 10th Marines (Marines do not like the term "Regiment" (It was forced upon us...); we regularly leave it off, even in official correspondence, but it might be called "10th Marine Regiment" somewhere... We just say 8th Marines (My Outfit), 6th Marines, 10th Marines, etc.) Anyway, 10th Marine's unofficial Motto/Slogan was "Can You Hear Me Now?" 'Sides 105s, there were a few 8 inchers and a couple Self-propelled, but were phased out cuz of mobility problems. Firepower was great, but that was about it. See, EVERYTHING had to keep up with M-60 Main Battle Tanks... Marines were just getting the M1 Abrams when I was Medicalled Out.

@@colinl2020 Abrams was a beast. My assigned weapon was the M203 and it was fun. Full disclosure: I merely trained. Aside from Robin's Sage, the closest i got to combat was sitting on the tarmac to visit Grenada, but there were too many ahead of us and, i guess, they thought (Congress probably) that the isle would capsize if we overloaded it. Peed me the foxtrot off. I was looking forward to warm beaches and cold beer

excellent exercise. Troops from NATO countries bought this barrel, but have perio speed its entry into position against the Oto Melara 105/14, lighter weight and lower shooting distance, do not you think that the two systems can be supported?, Bye friends gunners.

Duel Pistol Though this doctrine but in conditions close to combat, so it should be a real battle, otherwise the last estimate put the bullet or splinter .
