Sky Soldier Fire Mission • M119 Howitzer

U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to 4th Battalion, 319th Field Artillery Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sky Soldiers), fire M119 Howitzers during exercise Dynamic Front 21, at Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany on May 20, 2021. Exercise Dynamic Front 21 (DF21) includes approximately 1,800 participants from 15 nations, May 3 - 21, 2021 at the U.S. Army's Grafenwöhr Training Area in Germany and in Torun, Poland. DF21 is a 7th Army Training Command-led, U.S. Army Europe and Africa-directed exercise designed to increase readiness, lethality and interoperability by exercising allied and partner nations’ ability to integrate joint fires in a multinational environment at both the operation and tactical levels.

Casing aren't hot. They have 2 # 1 guys. The #1 man does all loading and unloading. Love the smell of fresh powder. Drill sergeant called it "Wolf Pu$$y" love it

I spent my career in the Quartermaster Corp. Running warehouses and such. Can anyone tell me what the guy on the left is pulling off the rounds before the guy hands it to the loader? Looks like a white bag or something. Didn't notice the first time I saw this.

Powder charge. The more powder the further the round travels; less powder equates to less distance.

Too bad for the guy whose job it is to stick his head right into that nasty smoke to check the barrel.
