so this song was played at my brothers funeral. Both my brother and I had are battles with drugs and alcohol he died cause of this horrible disease. It brought me to me knees when my pastor and I shared the good news of the gospel with and he shed a tear. My brother was clinically brain dead and had no movement or reaction until that moment. In listening to - and reading - the lyrics, I've wondered about that as well. He thanks God for the beautiful girl with whom the Lord has blessed him, and even makes a [somewhat vague] reference to the Book of Job, and the famous "... the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away..." (yeah, I know - old King James version!) All that aside, this is an amazing and heart-wrenching song. Whatever the writer/performer's personal beliefs (I myself am a Christian) I like to think it was intended to be both: a prayer to God AND a plea to his girl to never leave him. Just my take...

So many say things about those who fall away, and frankly I used to too. But I've found as my faith matures, I have more questions for God than can be answered. While I still hold on my grip gets weak but I know he is holding me up. I will not talk bad about these two, instead I will pray that they come running back to the Father. Once we are in Him it is harder to be in the world, for its because we have tasted and seen of his goodness. Please know I am praying for you dear brother and sister. As well as a few others who have publicly fallen away or professed to no longer believing. I challenge our other brothers and sisters in Christ to do the same. After hearing their reasons on why they left, we as Christians have to be rather blunt on God's Sovereignty. We always want to be super encouraging and optimistic when talking to someone that is going through a rough time. However, we kinda miss the point when we do that. I am not saying that it is bad to build your brother up when they are crashing down, but we have to be content that when our world falls apart, it brings glory to God. This is what Jesus said about Lazarus death to Martha. By no means is our downfall part of God's delight, but if we believe in all loving sovereign God, we have to place our trust and reliance on Him. Meaning, that when God lets things happen he takes the entirety of his creation into consideration. This is wisdom is best observed in the book of Job. That is why we should be slow to say things like "you are going through a hard time, it must be because you are in sin." The reason, is because we are all sinners, and my our free choices, we deserve the internal separation from God. That is why we need our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the undeserving grace we get from him. Then we start seeing that all blessing we receive is truly from the undeserving love of our God, and all the bad things that happen to us (within our walk with God) is when truly we see God turning "Beautiful things out of dust." For it is out of His work and not ours, for his will and not ours.

A lot of people critisize Gungor for believing creation through the big bang theory, and while that is controversial, we shouldn't despise them so terribly. They are talented musicians working for the Lord. We all share the same gospel. As a belief, we need to stop calling out our differences and come together based on our similarities. No one is going to hell for interpreting Genesis in a different way. As long as we all put our full faith in Jesus, I think it's safe to say that we'll be saved. The whole perception of bashing people with different beliefs is what has torn the World apart. We need to preach love over hate. Then, and only then will we get anywhere.

HewOnKZbin in my opinion there‘s no clear line between believing and not believing. Sometimes taking a step back, looking from a distant helps to set everything in perspective. I believe there’s a good God - but I cannot prove it. But it then again nothing would make sense if He‘s just an illusion. And I don’t think he is. Faith means (for me) doubting and struggling and testing and trusting. Labels don’t matter - you don’t have to be a Christian or an Atheist. I want to be a Child on the look out for someone greater and better than the world has ever known.

I definitely get your perspective. I was raised loosely Christian as a kid but was always fascinated by God and Jesus. I got taken on this long journey of going through my Mums Catholic side and a bit of universalism to my Dads American Baptist roots (oh I’m Aussie lol btw) to floating through and having an odd sense of Christianity as a teen. I then became involved in an Anglican Church and met some kind true soles that put me on yet another track to understanding God. I fell away from the church because my introversion pushed me there and a couple of years of questioning led to a lot of late night research on all religions , spiritualities and new age thoughts. It was crazy because no matter what I read Jesus kept cropping up, wherever I looked - people discussing him as a son of God, a prophet, an enlightened one, a teacher or light worker. I opened myself to many things, but I always got a call back from God and Jesus. Then the messages started happening weekly, where God and Jesus would be sending me such direct messages I couldn’t explain Him away anymore. The one that striked me the most was I was sitting at my kitchen table and I felt an odd feeling that I needed to stay there. I then heard a familiar yet different male voice telling me I need to stay there.. and as crazy as this sounds I was arguing with Him, I wanted to get up and go out... the voice stopped and I felt the sudden urge to turn my head left. My grandma was coming up from the garden and she took a misstep. She grabbed the handle bar but flipped around and hit the ground hard. I helped her up and called for a family member to get her to the dr. My Nanna believed in God, but never spoke to me about him much.. then she casually said to me “Oh thank God, you were there or I would’ve been lying on the cement outside on the ground all day” (it was a hot Aussie spring/summer) and that blew me away, cos I learnt that God is with everyone of His children through the good and the bad, even tho my grandma was old to me, she was a loved child to God he didn’t want to see hurt. I thought about this again recently, and God has been sending me a lot of messages. If you pray and open yourself to see, you’ll be amazed. I always say I’m as stubborn as they come God, so you have to send me really obvious messages. In one way my life is the same, but on the other God is what keeps me up and going thru my depression. Sorry for the rant thanks for coming to my ted talk 😂😂

Not too surprising with these "worship" lyrics that are focused not on God, but on how "beautiful" we humans are. Even though I like the music it always struck me as oddly self-centered and vapid. Now we know why, they were not committed to believing what God thinks if it didn't make them feel good. If God is just there to make you feel good, then you are your god, and God is your jester.

Going through these comments just solidify my choice of being agnostic. You spew toxicity and further the divide. This is beautiful music.

this is unfortunately the sort of divisive culture found in every church. People like to point fingers. People like to be accusatory when instead they should be encouraging. I've found that it is best to not get too involved with the church, and focus on God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit on my own.

Being a Christian is not about other Christians. There are countless terrible Christians to focus on and countless good ones to focus on as well... But there's only one Jesus Christ... Focus on Him. God bless

I feel ya. Your journey is important. Continue on it. Also just a side note Jesus probably would over turn the tables in most churches today, don’t let Christian discolor your view of Christ-for whatever that’s worth to ya

reminds me of the scripture of " Beauty for Ashes " Isaiah 61: …2to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance, to comfort all who mourn, 3to provide for those who grieve in Zion- to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise in place of a spirit of despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. 4They will rebuild the ancient ruins; they will restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.…beautiful music so encouraged to hear something new with acoustic and strings. Love this bless you all and God bless your music ministry !

I never realized they were in the"word of faith". It's sad to know they were given a false foundation that later crumbled. Hopefully they hear the actual gospel and come to saving faith.

He is always with us, as God is spirit. He also said that no one knows the time he will return... but He will return as a thief in the night, thus we all need to be ready. None of us are worthy of His love and forgiveness, it is only through changing our ways and accepting Him that He will be there for us... whether it is when He returns, or when we go to meet Him... in which case, none of us know the time and the day. Best wishes to you, and to all when death claims us.
