Plus they stuffed the video for Idol with things they'd been criticised for: Hair colours, specific glasses og clothes, "Jin has ugly knees" - trousers showing off the knees, "Suga's too pale" - Snow White shirt, RM using funny filters during lives and many more. It's honestly the perfect FU to anyone who criticised them. 😂🤌 (You can watch xCeleste's explanation video to know more about the personal things and DKDKTV's to know more about the cultural things. They have different focuses so they hardly overlap at all.) 💜

Ironically, music originated in Africa, Asia then Europe so technically bts are taking music back home. That would make America the imitators, me thinks. lol.

@@CloudedLeopard8588you can't just say "music originated in Africa" - there wasn't any specific civilisation that invented it or anything, music has just existed as long as humans have. I guess the first humans were from Africa, but that's not really the same thing... it's not like Europeans "got it" from there or anything, music just spread with humans as they migrated to different places

I would recommend you check out an explanation video for Idol, even if it’s on your own time. The “randomness” of the MV isn’t very random at all, there are a TON of symbols and cultural context in it. It will make it easier to understand why the MV is so over-the-top and why they look so “serious” in it.

i saw bts in 2019, and when i tell you the crowd was SCREAMING when that little trumpet from idol started playing. not just normal fangirl whatever screams, i mean PRIMAL SCREAMING. this was in california and every single person in that stadium knew every single word, every single lyric, korean or english, was being screamed to the rafters, to the helicopters circling above. i swear the planes passing over the stadium could probably hear us. that song alerts something primal in every army's body, it's so powerful. and it's message of staying true to oneself and loving oneself and knowing oneself is something bts has been teaching us since 2018 and i feel like it just fully culminates in 'idol'.

Dna was the first Song i heard of Bts, i loved it. It also played while i fell on my back in the basement and couldnt breath💀 Edit : i also remember thinking that Jin was a Total badass due to being dressed in all black in Dna

Idol uses a House/African beat. As a South African army I absolutely love this song. As for the music video, there was a time when people used to make fun of how Kpop videos were so ridiculous and childish. The whole video is exaggerating that concept as a clapback to that ridicule. If any army have a more indepth explanation on the mv then please correct or add on to this💜💜borahae

So, yeah. BTS has a lot story with every era they have lived as a group haha. The story behind Idol is pretty interesting but you get it!! Eventhough you don't have the entire context you said "they don't take it seriously". Basically, BTS was the first group to enter the western industry in the DNA/Mic Drop era through American programs/promotions/awards shows/etc. And they were terribly mistreated. The western industry used them just to get numbers and really didn't care about them as a group and their music. So, around that time, in Korea they received a lot of criticism saying they only cared for the western approval, and in America they were perceived by a lot of ignorant people as the weird asian boygroup that had toxic fans just because of their looks, with very exotic, bizarre and colorful MVs. So, Idol is an answer to all of that. They included a bunch of Korean-culture references in the video, and also exaggerated every aspect of the video visuals, their hair colors, the way they dress, etc. It says a lot of it in the lyrics too. It was a way of saying "Is this what you want of me? Sure, take it. You can't change who I truly am cause I love myself".

In regards of a concert IDOL performance, I would personally recommend any of the Love Yourself Speak Yourself Tour 2019 performances. London, Osaka, Seoul, LA, Sao Paulo, etc...your pick lol

Idol is such a fun song! And it’s a total clap back to their haters. People said they used a lot of green screen (hardly ever used it, they prefer real locations) so they said, “Oh, you want green screen?” 🤣 People said they were becoming too Americanized so they filled their video with Korean cultural references. People said RM used filters too much in his lives so he used filters. And they did all this while singing about say what you want, call us what you want, you won’t stop me from loving myself. BTS, man…even classy when basically giving people the finger. 🤣

Glad your back with BTS, you should definitely watch the RUN BTS DANCE PRACTICE (or the song first then the dp) and I’d love to see you react to B-sides. Maybe you could do álbum reactions. Also, DDAENG which is, in my opinion some of the strongest from the rap line, there’s an explanation vid on KZbin to go along. If you’re interested in new boy groups, check out TXT or tommorow by together they’re also crazily experimental with their sound. Maybe you could listen to Sugar rush ride, 0X1=Love Song and Good Boy Gone Bad or Blue Hour! (They’re b-sides are amazing aswell, like tinnitus, farewell neverland, 20CM)

Hellooo!! I love how much you enjoy every single video of our boys. I’ve seen on your patreon some more content and i love it all. I guess you should start checking out some “dance practices” which will show you the entire choreography they have for the songs. Sometimes in the mv you cannot appreciate them well. And, of course, RUN BTS (the song. Do not confuse it with Run, or Run Bts the program) is a Must! They don’t have a MV for that song, so the dance practice is the best we have… but is insane!

Noting is random in BTS mvs! In this video all the things u see as random are symbolisms ansewrin to all those who critise them as a westernised K pop idols! The music is composed in an ethnic African up bit rythm to show that BTS are making music using rythm from all over the world not only west . Their wardrope and colors of MV are having African and Asian influnces. Have in mind that for the most " difficult" to explain mvs of BTS there are yt videos made by english speaking Koreans who expalin sthe symbolisms and sometimes the lyrics hiden meanings! The best one is "Daeng" a rap song of the rap line !💜💜💜
