Lol.. Majima's combat is one of the best in Yakuza Franchise. Thug style is slick and aesthetic. Breaker is 100% certified fun. And I like Slugger more than Kiryu's Beast. Mad dog style really lives up to its name. Majima running around slashing grunts is like a mad dog going wild and biting every living thing in its way.

Mad Dog was 100% worth the cabaret club mini-game. Thug is one of the most well-balanced styles, it really shows Majma's proficiency in battle. Slugger is very good on the defensive and to get particularly annoying enemies(especially with guard break heat action) Breaker...Well, i got no excuses here, it's braindead fun lol. It feels like you're bullying the game with it. Kinda wish i could avoid damage upgrades so i could use it more.

Honestly, Majima’s combat is not bad and fun. Probably the main reason people hate his is it’s low damage output he deals. Slugger is fine (though I wished it dealt more damage). Thug has my favourite poke eye break neck and breaker is just broken. Overall his combat isn’t terrible.

It has two, there’s the brutal overhead slam and another one triggered from block that requires low heat, which he does at 6:20. Both are kinda tricky to execute in their own ways but they’re super solid. Ironically Thug is the style with most limited countering ability.

It has two - the one overhead chop in 3rd gear you see here, and a great counter from block (like Brawler has) that can only be triggered in either 1st or 2nd gear, I can’t remember right now. I think I caught Gunk using it once around the middle of the video.

Imagine being so trash that you conclude that counters aren’t worth the risk in 0. Lmao the only challenge is using them fluidly rather than standing around waiting for dudes to strike. I can’t imagine using the combat system without counters honestly, they’re centerpieces of their respective styles. Breaker for example would be considerably worse without its two counters, and Thug would be OP if you could use Harsh Lesson with no heat.

Counters are just a center-piece of the Yakuza formula in general, even in a broad sense if we include simply dodging and then doing a combo from behind.

@Basedlander Yeah it's honestly one of the more underwhelming counters, but it's still good because it guarantees a knockdown which you otherwise won't get on bosses with Breaker Counter or Slugger Counter while they are in heat mode.

@Basedlander it’s not super strong but it instantly puts them on the ground long enough for a heat action. The point is that Thug is just too fast and too strong to remain well balanced with a good any-time counter. It also has a ton of heat counters with extremely generous windows already. Thug is more similar to Rush than to Brawler in many ways, and Rush also lacks a counter for the same balancing reason.
