Wow this was super insightful, thank you so much for making the video! Do you think you could do one about the camera and lens you use and how they might affect the shot? You touched on having a shallower depth of field for a different vibe and I'd love to know more about how you'd achieve that and what other situations would require other types of lenses or settings or whatever.

It depends on the style of shot. If I'm going for a moody look, I might shoot at 2.8. If I'm shooting the completed build, I'll shoot higher like f9 to show sharper details. And I shoot with a Nikon dslr.

Any recommendations for the perfect lens to use?
@joshualee338910 ай бұрын
Depends on the type of camera you have and style of shot you're looking for. I would recommend a full frame camera with a 35 mm lens or a 50.

What are the things that needed to consider when shooting with dark background?
@joshualee33892 жыл бұрын
Same principles for lighting like in the video, but you'll need to compensate with more light or details might get lost with too much contrast/shadow areas. Can make for a cool dramatic look if that's what you're going for.

@@joshualee3389 that’s why your photos on Twitter are so sharp! Nikon started off as a company making microscopes. Their lenses are the sharpest I’ve ever used. I have to set my camera to 500th of a second to get a sharp shot that I like.

Stupid question. Is there a particular paper type/ size you’d recommend? Tried pvc but not working out quite well
@joshualee33892 жыл бұрын
That's actually a great question, as I am particular about this. I like the Canson 98lb paper stock, it has a bit of a watercolor paper type texture which can show up in final photos in a very subtle way. For the size I use it's 19.5 in x 25.5 in. Tends to work quite well with larger models like MG 1/100 (and smaller scales). I thought of using pvc as well, but it's not as cost effective as paper, harder to acquire, and can be a bit more on the reflective side. Hope this helps.

@@joshualee3389 this is quite helpful. Just can’t seem to find anything matching the description here in the uk. Do you have an example on Amazon us or any other site I can reference for details on what I should be looking for?
@joshualee33892 жыл бұрын
@@Ife_As Here's the brand and exact paper stock I'm using: www.amazon.com/Canson-Mi-Teintes-Drawing-Sheets-Assorted/dp/B0042SSTOU You can also google "Canson Mi-Teintes Drawing Sheets" to try and source it locally.
