That always bugged be that having Franky coming back in the second game after we hear him go splat after Vinnie threw him out of the blimp retconned his death. They couldn't made him like, half zombie or given him chemical burns on his face after he (miraculously) survived the fall in the first game. But I will admit, this game is so fun that I can forgive that fact.

People straight up thought of the Germans as spawn of the Devil while their equally murderous Soviet allies were off the hook.
