i have a 105-year old great grandfather sitting in a nursing home, staring out the window in his rusty old wheelchair, not saying a word or moving. He was like this since the fall of the soviet union he loved so much. the nursing home has a grand piano, and the pensioners love it because i'm the only visitor they get anymore. This wonderful old lady Phoebe wants to see my 'repertoire' so to say, and asks for these very notes( you should know that I play most of your songs )to be played. Everybody loved the new song, and the same nondescript look my grandfather always wore. then, Phoebe asked for a personal favorite of mine, Katyusha. I played the beautiful intro, and when i got into the melody part, i turned around, and saw my grandfather' eyes sparkle, and he started singing along. for the first time in my life, i was hearing my great grandfather's voice, and hear him speak. everyone was silent, and then everybody started thanking me, and rushed off to meet him, since he was the first one there. so thank you, SMB, for allowing me to meet another person i thought would never say another word in his life. --Gregory Matroskivin(1913--present day)
