James Tull was my father. In December of 1973 he was electrocuted with 169,000 volts for 18 seconds and lived. He worked 33 years for the power company after that. Every time I hear this song I think of my daddy.

This is one of my favorite sings. I was afraid that the notes might be beyond Axl’s range, now. But, boy - he nailed it. And, I always thought Slash’s Spanish-guitar influence would fit this song perfectly - and, it did. I’d love to hear an entire album of Jimmy Webb covers by G ‘n R.

I think Axl's voice changed with age in a way that it doesn't even suit his own songs very well anymore, but then with covers like this he proves he's still got it, but maybe his older self is just better with a different genre, something softer just like this which he performed incredibly well!

Got to give the band props for courage here. When metal bands cover actual well-written songs with good lyrics they usually fall on their face. Their fans aren't used to that.

Two things. 1. GNR is *not* a metal band. 2. Usually, metal covers are as good as, if not better than, the original.

Huawei is a criminal organization. ‘Weak solo’ No matter the genre...simplicity or complexity... Other than maybe only 7 or 8 guitarists... anyone would be pretty hard pressed to do a worthy guitar solo up to the standard of Glen Campbell. It’s not even about precision or accuracy, or musicianship. When he wanted it to, Glen Campbell’s guitar playing didn’t generate emotion; it was emotion. He played in a way that can’t be taught and experience or practice can’t provide. He generated ‘feeling’ with guitar strings that only a modern day Bach could reproduce. So, ya, kudos due here.
@andyshores93913 жыл бұрын
You picked the wrong "metal band" this time, dude. You will not and could never, find better song writers than Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin. Bar none. You can name plenty in their league but you won't name any better. Clearly you haven't listened to any Guns N' Roses. Put some respect on that name.

Very Well Done - Excellent. I love Glen Campbell and I love GNR AND Axel Rose. Axel Rose is a wonderful man - A wonderful human being. I loved GNR prior to Use Your Illusion 1 and 2, but Use Your Illusion is what hooked me for life to GNR. There are some real masterpieces on Use Your Illusion 1 And 2. November Rain - A lesser known song I always liked from Use Your Illusion 2 is “Pretty Tied Up” And from Lies - “One In A Million” - great song with great lyrics. Axel tells it like it is No BS in that song. GNR and Axel are just wonderful people and I truly believe the lyrics from “One In A Million” say it just exactly how it is and how white is superior and good Christian values.
