In reality, especially in that era, firing a radar missile with a ground background would be a bad idea. The radar would get confused with the ground return. Better to shoot with a clear sky background, especiallly with Vietnam era radar and missiles.

ah, now i know how to restrain my dumb ass from firing at low-flying migs and i also have to do top gun maverick bullshit in running away so the missiles hit the terrain

And this is the easy mode, simple physic and you can see the enemies/friendly from far away.The realstic mode is much ore better and one kill there is real kick. But the most player fight in the Kindergarden class.
