Imagine thinking a 5 dollar doctor bill is too high.
@OnlySamCan4 жыл бұрын
ian wood 121 dollar doctor bill is still mad cheap compared to today’s medical bills.
@stuckinmygarage6220 Жыл бұрын
That's still cheap in today's dollar. Taking out a bullet and stitches for under 200. Even having a doc in town was special

I know this is old but still going to reply anyways. It's only seemingly cheap , yet remember how much things were worth didn't equate to someone easily being able to gain wealth. what costed 5 then would be like asking someone to pay in gradual payments to cover a some thousand dollars or 10k even for medical bills.

@@jacobj3933 5 dollars after accounting for inflation was 195 dollars. So while it was certainly more than 5 dollars from todays perspective honestly it’s still grossly cheap compared with todays out of pocket rates where a simple doctor visit could cost and uninsured person 300+ dollars depending.

I thought the same. But if you made, say, $5 a week, it would be equivalent to a week's paycheck today...so I have to keep putting myself into a different frame of reference. I'm still not good at it!

@@danocable I'm not privy to any previous dealings you and the other guy may have had in the past, but he did point out correctly that in Ep 1, Matt did, indeed, jail the young lad who would one day become known as Billy the Kid. But that's not exactly why I'm tossing in my two cents. Ep 70 references Billy the Kid as an adult, but is a pre-teen in Ep 1. Not really a big deal, though, because old radio and television series used to regularly make continuity errors like this, and it hardly mattered because no one jn those days had instant access to replay back episodes, the way we do today; if Billy the kid was 11 or 12 in Ep 1 but around 20 as can be assumed by the reference to him in Ep 70, most people who listened to the show from week to week probably would have forgotten all about Ep 1 and wouldn't notice the discrepancy.

Fine episode, well written, didn't end all tied up with a pretty bow, though in this case I kinda wish it had been. Most Gunsmokes are that way.

Chester's all about food. Matt's all about law. Doc's just like all current Doctors - all Drs are just about the money.
