Hey so on just bought one and on the 4th click the hammer doesn't stay locked. Any ideas why? Could I fix this myself or do I send it back to taurus?

Throwing your gun boxes away is a bad idea. I work at a gunshop and when people sell their guns back to us, the box being included always gets you more money. Keep your boxes folks.

Though I tend to be a purist, I like the addition of a transfer bar here, since it allows safe carry of six rounds without changing the external appearance of the revolver.

That’s the reason I chose Ruger. I have no interest in single action revolvers that don’t have the transfer bar.

I’ve always carried all six on my fixed firing pin Single actions. To do so, I carve a small notch in a few of my case rims; just big enough for the firing pin. Load up all six chambres, wit two notched cases facing each other, and lower the firing pin between the chambres. I’ve carried this way for years while out on the farm, not once worrying about my revolver getting smacked and going off.

Four clicks with a transfer bar sounds really neat, especially for new shooters. Colt manual of arms, but safe. This is the way it always should have been.

Zero drawbacks of the transfer bar other than more parts to wear out which isnt even a real concern✌

@@berniec.461 The quality of mine is excellent. The timing is solid, it locks up tight, and the action is smooth. I've never fired any heavy loads out of it though. I would like to see whether it can handle more than cowboy action loads, but I'm a little paranoid about trying them.

You blokes can still purchase cap and ball revolvers right? The Remington 1858 clones made by Uberti and Pietta are pretty reliable and formidable as percussion revolvers go

The transfer bar is in there in case you drop the gun on the a hard surface and the hammer is down on a live round.

The gaucho has come back. It's the same gun different name. I have the 357 gaucho. Great reliable gun.

I had my grandfather's 3rd gen Colt which was like this gun but it was not an Army Colt, it was a genuine 45 Colt revolver.

A good combo is the Taurus Deputy with the Rossi 92. Both are made in Brazil and under the same ownership.

Though using the transfer bar action, I'm pleased to see that the cylinder rotation is a positive one, and not like those ridiculous Rugers! I'll be looking forward to the full review. Neat. I might get one of these in ,357 as a general defence gun. I particularly like the single action as it slows down firing. Hikok said people are too keen to shoot without aiming. This forces aiming.

Thanks for reviewing these. I love my older Taurus Gaucho with the 7.5" barrel and I'm happy that they decided to bring these back so I can finally find the other lengths easier. My older one had a bit of a soft base pin so hopefully they've fixed that on the newer ones.

well i think im gonna pass on the taurus theyre quality issues are the reason i know someone is gonna comment well you can do this or upgrade that to them i say im not in the habit of buying a brand new firearm to have to work on it immediately id much rather buy something and it work for awhile before having to work on it

Not to change subject... I just wanted to tell I bought your hand made black power lube a little while ago and it's GREAT!! Forgot to use it on first cylinder and almost couldn't remove the Cylinder!! Used it on my next three cylinders and things went smooth on all three! Thanks for a great product!

As a traditional Colt OEM SAA owner / collector I'd LOVE to see a version similar to my original Colt SAA Montana Double Commemorative, (1.964), with gorgeous case hardened frame, a couple original Golden accents. Mine very slick & accurate @ 100yds, not rested, with my own handloads. Even better if this Taurus provides safely carrying all six chambers loaded thanks to its transfer bar system. Thanks for a great review on this beautiful Taurus version and looking forward for an in- depth review.

I took mine to a local competition today. It worked great for just out of the box.No problem on any stages. I posted a shorts here on KZbin. I have ordered a wolf spring kit for it, so I am excited to see how it does with some work to it. Thanks for the great videos.

I dry handled a couple at my LGS and I have to say that the actions are pure grit. I can’t say I expected anything special, but they really let me down.

Fantastic to see Taurus making a single action 1873 style. And they kept the four hammer clicks AND a transfer bar safety. There are some smart designers working for Taurus. This will definitely be interesting to the cowboy action shooters, and those of us who just like the Colt 1873 style single actions.

The only 2 revolvers i have is my Heritage rough rider because i got both cylinders for about $120. I can shoot 22 Short, 22LR, the 22WMR, an the birdshot And the Taurus 357mag. I would like adding one of these to my small collection

I'm with you on as much "simulated authenticity" as I can get, also favoring a cylinder that does not turn until the hammer is moved to partial-cock. Even at the bottom of the single-action revolver food chain, I favor the Heritage Rough Rider over the Ruger Wrangler, and that's one of the primary reasons.
